I want to believe it, but at the same time I'll try and keep my expectations in check. All I know is, if it really does end up happening, I'll be downloading it off the eshop ASAP.

Considering nothing was talked about during E3, I think they have something up their sleeve. In early or late July, we will get a random Nintendo Direct on some new games (possibly Metroid) and get some details on stuff like Shin Megami X Fire Emblem. Then they will announce some DS and GBA games (including Mother 3 hopefully) for the E-Shop to fill the drought till the Fall.

True July is the 25th anniversary of the franchise, but not even Itoi himself was really paying much attention to anniversaries until "Starman Club" reminded him. (when he calls the Starmen.net people)

Wasn't Mother 1 officially translated, but never released? Would love to see Mother 1 and Mother 3 out here. Let's wait for the 25th anniversary in July.
If it is confirmed, maybe a Wii U VC collection with full of all the Mother games from 1-3. They will be translated, including confirmation that Ness and Lucas will come to Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS and a special surprise that a new Mother will come out.
It would be awesome for a Mother 1 and 3 release on the VC. What would even be more awesome is a trilogy release on the Wii U. Would definitely buy it even with Earthbound on the VC.

Hopefully one day, probably when Ness or Lucas is announced. I'd love to get my hands on Mother 1 as well.
