I went from being Pride to Envy

I'm personally outraged at the fact that we get Punch out over this. It's a worse choice than Urban champion. (Yes, I know it's a classic, but IMHO That is the Mike tyson version).

On the bright side, perhaps NA is waiting to release it for actual profit, considering how much demand its been getting?

At least its been re-released in some form albeit Japan only so far.

I think that is a possibility. It didn't come to wii VC so it'll probably be a full priced SNES game.

And don't give me the legal issues crud either: In the japanese version there are even MORE problems. I know as I own Mother 2 on GBA

Japan doesn't have the same trademark/copyright laws as the US. So yes, I will give the legal crud.

We have a couple months before it comes out in Japan. Once it's out, we'll know if there are any changes, and therefore see if there's any legal problems.

I am really jealous of Japan right now. I'm dieing to play something in the series, I would be fine even with just that five-minute demo in the Japanese Brawl. Not to mention they're getting it for just 30 yen (30 cents, for those wondering). To get Earthbound here, you have to cough up at least 100 bucks. If it ever does get over to here in NA, I'll be extremely pleased, though.

Apparently you guys don't recall the Earthbound series is making a return pretty soon in U.S. Not saying it will be a Trilogy collection, or remake, but we're getting one soon...

When did they say that? I'm positive they only said the Mother series will be making a return soon...which obviously just meant Japan. Now I gotta go check...

I double checked my sources, and can't find anything relating to a western release. Still interested in what SCAR has to say.

Search 'Earthbound creator confirms something is in the pipeline'. I searched EDIT:'Mother return' and it came up. It was an artical on Dec. 20, 2012 here at NL.

I know that the creator (Itoi or whatever) announced something for the series on his Twitter. But I don't remember anything saying it would be applying to anything outside of Japan. I'll go check again.

For future reference, here is what Itoi said on his Twitter:
"Since I’m allowed to drop it on you all now, I’ll just go ahead and say it. The “Mother re-release” I’d mentioned a bit before, we’re making progress on that. It’s not 4! We’re trying to get Mother working again right now. I still can’t mention any details, but I have to make clear that this isn’t ‘4’!"
The article also said this could've likely been for a VC release in Japan, which appears to be the case.

Yeah, that was one of my 'sources'. Try reading the article again. It says nothing about a Western-confirmed release of something. The Japanese release was what they had in the pipleline. The article only states that it would be easier to for an American release to be possible if a release was made it Japan.

My mistake. I thought it included U.S. I'm pretty sure it will still show up outside of Japan anyway.

Hopefully. Just seeing it come out in Japan is a glimpse of more hope.

Itoi and the Nintendo page refer to this as a “revival festival”, so it’s pretty clear this is the “revival” Itoi mentioned a few days ago and the “republication” he mentioned last month.

Well ya. It's more up to date. The Mother 2 game still has everything in the original word for word(main prob I think), right? This 'revival' in Japan for the series could mean they're ready to release something everywhere else. I hope they can find a way to get them all out here, but they probably are afraid most consumers don't know about this game, or will find it weird if they rerelease 2, and are giving us the other 2 games years late. They could just call it Earthbound again, and make the games all intertwine, while making the storyline gap between the games more understandable in-game. I played Earthbound on SNES(cartridge, not that it really matters), and it was for sure my favorite RPG, but a remake calling all the games in one as Earthbound woud be more suiting for a U.S, release in my opinion.
