Topic: Mario Tennis N64

Thought I'd make a thread for this one since I couldn't find one. Will be fun to play through again and give my wife and I something else to play together. Too bad the old connectivity with the GBC game no longer works even though it's on the 3DS VC. I used to use that a ton on the old versions. Still a fun game though. Definitely going through with Yoshi first like I always do. There's an unlock or two I'm particular looking forward to... Also I know I play a bit differently now than I did then. A little more technical than just straight speed and power like I used to aim for.
Who else is getting it or thinking about it? Anybody else grab it on the original release day back in 2000 as well? Got a favorite character?

With Mario Tennis being on the Wii U VC now, I’ve been thinking about hosting a sort of content or tournament with one of the old tournament codes from back in the N64 days (such as the Blockbuster or Nintendo.com one). Would you think this would be a fun idea? I have a few other questions before going forward though.
-Would there possibly be some sort of issue with there not being a spoiler tag since I’d be showing how to access that code screen and posting the code itself?
-I’m not all that impressed by internet karma personally, so I didn’t want to say the winner would get a bunch of ‘Yeahs’ or promise I’d follow them or something. That being said, I would if that’s what works best. Any other prize ideas?
-I do have a couple of codes for indy games I haven’t used, and could message the winner with the code for the game as the prize, but is that even allowed on Miiverse? I don’t want to break a rule by promising that as a give away or anything.

I am thinking about picking this up but cannot find out what controllers are supported. I thought the Wii version didn't support just a wiimote but in the eshop it looks like it does.. I just don't trust it. Can anyone confirm we could play this with just a wiimote or even wiimote+nunchuck? I don't have any classic controllers and only 1 pro controller and the game isn't worth it if I can't play 4 players.

I'm not sure why the eShop says that. Someone else told me that too. The game just supports the Gamepad, Pro Controller, and Classic controller. With what you have, you can play up to two people using the Gamepad and the Pro controller.

Bummer.. the wiimote has all the buttons needed to control its sad they didn't at least make it work for wiimote+nunchuck the button mapping cannot possibly be that hard with the controllers it already supports.
