Mario Party 2 has recently been released in Japan on the Wii U virtual console. Will Mario Party 2 be released in other regions soon? Will the other 2 Mario Party games show up anytime soon?

Mario Party 2 could come any time now. And Mario Party 3 is likely eventually, but I doubt Mario Party 1 will come.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

One thing I hated on the Wii version of MP2 is that the N64 Z button was mapped to the L button on the GameCube and Classic Controller. That was a very stupid move considering the game always tells you what button to use, there was no reason that it had to be that way.

I'll just stick to the Wii version, unless they add GameCube controller support on Wii U, then maybe I'll consider it.

I always thought the Z to L button thing was weird too, but how else could they have done it considering there's no back button on any controller that could support N64 games.
But lol, I doubt there are any games that used Z & L at the same time, but if there were that'd be super conflicting for the control scheme and I always wondered what would happen. Meh, at least they used 2 buttons for things like a hit-drop though, I always thought the upgraded GCN version of A+A button was weird.

I want 1 or 3 on WiiU VC now. I won't be rebuying MP2. I got it free for Wii from Club Nintendo, and I go into the Wii menu often enough anyway to play other VC or Wii games. No need to pay to have it switch menus imo.

They got the button mapping right in other games like Mario Tennis and a couple other games, so it confuses me why they couldn't do it for this game. It was more acceptable for a few other N64 VC games with the Z to L mapping since the game didn't constantly tell you what button to press. They should have had the option to change how the controls are mapped and this wouldn't have been a problem. This problem doesn't ruin the game completely, but it does get in the way at times.

Yeah, I'm keeping Mario Party 2 on my Wii. I'm not doing the transfer to Wii U and lose GameCube controller support or paying the "upgrade" fee. (Even if it has the option to change the controls). It isn't worth it. I most likely will get 1 and 3 if they ever show up.

How on earth is mapping Z to L on the GameCube controller a weird choice for Mario Party? You use the same finger on the same hand to press both Z on the N64 controller and L on the GC controller, what could be a better button than L?

How could they possibly have "gotten it right" with Tennis when there's still no Z button on the back to resemble the N64?

@Dankykong I mean they mapped the N64 buttons to their corresponding buttons on the GameCube/Classic Controller for Mario Tennis and a few other N64 games. (N64 Z button to the GameCube/Classic Controller Z button). I know it's not exactly like holding the N64 controller, but I'm just saying it would have been better if they had the option to change the N64 button layouts. (A layout that Nintendo made for that specific game and another one that is mapped to their corresponding buttons on the NGC/Classic Controllers). I know that's not going to happen now since the Wii is not a supported console now, but I wish that was how it was done.

@mystman12 It can get confusing when the games says to press Z, but you actually have to press L. Again, it's not a deal breaker, but it can really get in the way at times.

How is Mario Party DS? Is that worth downloading?

It does have good minigames and some decent single player content, but the best part of Mario Party is the multiplayer and that's not available on the Wii U VC version. (This is why I would prefer they also have DS games on the 3DS, and also the screen options aren't really that good for DS games) I still have the original DS game, so I'll stick with that.
