not sure if I brought this up before or now, but...The Wii had issues with emulating the SuperFX Chip right? Has Nintendo said anything about the Wii U? Would love to play the original Yoshi's Island on the big screen again.

It wasnt so much a problem emulating it I think but more of a licensing issue. The chip was co-developed with Argonaut Games and yes I know that Argonaut Games went out of business in 2004 so I am thinking the licensing is caught up somewhere with some red tape. Maybe with the founder of the company or something. Its really the only thing that makes sense cause the we cant emulate doesnt.

Yeah I don't think that emulating special chips is a problem. Mega Man X2 used a special chip (Cx4 in-cartridge enhancement chip) and it's available on Wii VC. (The 3D Sigma head was a great use of 3D for the SNES). I think it is more of a proprietary issue like Tauski said.

Oh yeah, does Yoshi's Island on GBA use the FX Chip? It was ported to the 3DS to certain people.

Games To Finish: Arkham City, Nintendo Land, Wario Land: Shake It!, Red Steel 2, Okami, Xenoblade Chronicles, Sticker Star, Dragon Quest IX, Okamiden, Spirit Tracks, Superstar Saga, Kid Icarus 1 & 2, Blaster Master: Enemy Below, Bionic Commando GB, Rayman GBC, Banjo Tooie, Castlevania: SotN.

As I said they say that over and over but it doesn't make sense. As Ryno said Megaman X2 uses a speical chip so does Street Fighter Alpha II and both of them are on the VC. Heck even DKC made use of polygon graphics and had no problems. Thats where it only makes sense its a licensing issue. It might be that founders of Argonaut Games get royalties for life whenever the chip or likeness of it is used. Even if the company goes out of business they will still get the money from that deal. It could be just that it would in the end cost too much or they couldnt come up with an agreement like MS and Nintendo with the N64 GoldenEye.

It used the FX2 Chip on the SNES version, but the GBA version which they ported didn't use it because of the GBA's increased power, I think.

The GBA is by far more powerful than the SNES.
