I think Genesis/MD games and Neo Geo games will be on the Switch's eShop at this point.

Well we're getting NeoGeo games on Switch so that's something. Seems lame there won't be a discount if you've already downloaded them on Wii though. I wonder when Genesis games will come back to Nintendo eshop.

Those aren't even Virtual Console downloads on the Switch...

That said, why should Hamster give a discount to people that download Arcade Archives, just because they downloaded NeoGeo titles from another publisher years ago, on a system that never had an account and whose purchases are not even listed with Wii U and 3DS downloads in their new account system for the Switch when you look at your purchase history?

Even titles you've moved to the Wii U's Wii Mode aren't listed, which was perhaps the only bit that had any sort of realistic chance of happening where Wii to Switch upgrades are concerned, since the Wii U eShop each time you log into it scans your Wii U's 512MB memory for Wii Mode for content licenses to apply suitable discounts, and could've potentially been adjusted to remember this data and add it to your purchase history. Without that, there's no practical way to recognize when a person qualifies for a discount.

The only Wii to Switch upgrading that will be a possibility, if Nintendo even has a VC upgrade mechanism in place, will be for content that was upgraded to the Wii U version in-between, which gets that purchase into their new account system so that it can be recognized as being owned by you when you move to a Switch.

As we're coming to the end of the Wii U Virtual Console's life, I do have to say how disheartening it is that Sega chose not to support it with their games. Not even on the Game Boy Advance or DS.

I'm surprised we didn't at least get a port of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

Only in recent weeks has it finally disappeared at my local Wal-Mart. Year after year, PS3/360 copies would get down to 1-2 left and then be fully restocked the next time I was in.

I'm not sure how successful it was when it first released, but it was definitely a sales perennial that surely brought in a solid profit for Sega. Would've been a great fit for the Wii U (I excused them on the Wii, considering that they were trying to sell them at $8 a pop on the Virtual Console).
