As of now, you cannot create folders on the Wii U menu.

To create a folder after the update, you just need to tap and hold an empty panel and it will change to a create a folder panel, similar to the 3ds. Tried it briefly before I left for work.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

Anybody want to share their folders with the others? Mine are:

Mario, DK & Wario
Legend of Zelda
Street Fighter
Mega Man
Metroid
Kirby & Lolo
F-Zero
Castlevania
Contra
Ghosts n Goblins
NES
SNES
GB Advance
Wii U
Punch Out!
Pac-Man

Series that don't appear on more than one platform such as Breath of Fire and Golden Sun, go in the folders of the console they were on. But if a series does appear on more than one platform, then they get their own folder. The only current exception is the Street Fighter folder but which also includes Final Fight games - that will be rectified when Mighty Final Fight is released later today.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I simply have a single folder that's titled 'Games'. My downloads are first sorted by system (NES, SuperNes, GBA, and then Wii U), with the contents of each category then listed alphabetically. I see no need to over complicate it with dozens of folders that are in actuality just adding to the clutter.

And a second folder is labeled 'System' and is where my rarely used shortcuts such as the daily log are stored.

My folders are:

Nintendo (6 titles)

  • 1st party retail

Type One (8 titles)

  • 2nd/3rd party games either published by Nintendo or have that Nintendo "feel" like LEGO and Sonic

Type Two (9 titles)

  • 3rd party games that definitely feel like 3rd party games, like Assassin's Creed, Deus Ex, and Resident Evil

eShop (9 titles)

  • Indies and digital-only games

SNES (12 titles)

  • SNES virtual console

GBA (10 titles)

  • GBA virtual console

Apps (??? titles)

  • You know, Health & Safety, Activity Log, all that junk
