A few new things to add in the Virtual Console version of GBA games:

  • Press on the right stick anytime to activate the smoothing feature
  • You can adjust the game's screen resolution display on the TV between Original and Full (with black bars)
  • Tapping on the ? mark on GamePad's screen will bring you its digital manual and can still play the game on the TV screen

...What, why don't the SNES games get this feature?! xD

As for Rhythm Heaven, are there any songs with lyrics in that game? Don't think I've seen any...

@brooks83: Indeed, I learned that the GBA games will have digital versions of the original manuals just now. That's so cool!

This also means that the excellent WarioWare manual will grace the screen as well. My old one is all torn up and probably missing, so this is just so cool of Nintendo to do.

Not gonna lie, pretty hyped for this kind of support. (big GBA fan, here)

Yeah, the pricing for each GBA game will vary between $6.99 and $7.99 in a similar fashion of Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on 3DS eShop. Even Nintendo Life has an article for that!

Ah, I missed that, thanks! 7.99 is pretty reasonable, I'll probably get Advance Wars or M&L tomorrow.

Eel

Brighter and with display options, nice

But... Original resolution? I kinda hope that means the aspect ratio. As in, "as big as possible without stretching the image".

Details from NintendoWorldReport:
File sizes:
Advance Wars – 62MB
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga – 63MB
Metroid Fusion – 57 MB
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror – 57MB
WarioWare, Inc: Minigame Mania – 55MB
F-Zero Maximum Velocity – 55MB
Golden Sun – 82MB
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 – 51MB

Those manuals must add to the file size. Most GBA games were 4-16MB originally. (the largest was Mother 3 at 32MB)

What time does the E Shop update?

I can't wait to try Super Star Saga! Never got to play that one.

I like how the digital Superstar Saga manual still shows the GameCube and the Game Boy Player.

Is the emulation software these games run on a part of the game's download? I just ask this because it told me M&L:Superstar Saga needed about 140mb of space. Was half of that download just the GBA emulator?

It seems to me that these are emulated Game Boy Player versions of GBA games

Advance Wars is definitely a game that works better on handhelds. I say get Superstar Saga now since it's brilliant on home console or portable and pick up Advance Wars later. Who knows, maybe Nintendo will implement cross play by then.

Honestly I'm not offended by the Wii U release of these titles so far. While I would like to play them on the 3DS, they are still great games.

Digital manuals still show off Final Fantasy Tactics Advance? (though I'm sure if there's third-party GBA support, S-E will release that.)
