Okay. Guess this means I'll eventually own Final Fantasy VI Advance and FFTA legally...not that I'm thrilled to own those turds, but I want them for collection purposes.
Might as well grab the Battle Network and Advanced Wars games legally as well...
They might be announced in the next 3DS direct for all we know. Either way, this is good news. The GBA was a fantastic system.
“A thing may be too sad to be believed or too wicked to be believed or too good to be believed; but it cannot be too absurd to be believed in this planet of frogs and elephants, of crocodiles and cuttle-fish.”

The GBA announcement actually made me think Nintendo's about to start supporting the ability to play purchased VC games on both the 3DS and Wii U. Well, it was part of that anyway, along with the upcoming Miiverse addition to the 3DS, which implies linked accounts.

They just announced that you'd have to pay a fee to get your Wii games on the Wii U VC, so I doubt they're going to start linking the 3DS and Wii U VC libraries anytime soon (read: ever).

In a way, they're already linked - you can see all Nintendo 3DS software, card and download, in Nintendo eShop for Wii U, as well as all the same details, screenshots, videos etc. that are in Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS. You just can't buy the stuff yet.
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway
Games I'm excited for: Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8

Yes, but that's for new features. I know I'm being optimistic, but with Miiverse coming to the 3DS, it's expected that Nintendo ID's will be linked between the systems. What's more, the only games confirmed for the Wii U VC seem like the most obvious choices for the 3DS VC (it already had NES games, and GBA games were expected; SNES games are very similar to GBA games). Even if Nintendo were to charge a small fee to have games playable on both systems, I'd be more than happy to pay it for some of my old favorites. Anything's possible.

I like FFTA. Not a great game, but it's good in mild doses.
But FF6A was a bad port of a good game.
Hopefully they use some good filters then. I have my gamecube+GB-player hooked up to my 42" LCD TV and GBA games look like a blurry mess. almost unplayable because it hurts my eyes after a short time. Guess I will move the gamecube to my bedroome oldschool tube TV
Agreed. During the brief time I owned a second-hand Gamecube I also had a GameBoy Player and whilst I guess it would have been okay on a smaller CRT, the resolution isn't high enough to blow up on a modern HD set without doing some additional image processing.
I have just thought of something, maybe the Wii U could have GameCube-GBA link support? This could work really well with games like Four Swords Adventures, would unlock the Tiny Chao Garden for the Sonic Adventure/Advance games, make Pacman VS playable, unlock content for GC games only available with a cable, as well as many other examples I can't think of at the moment. And for games with more than one GBA supported, you could 3DSs as well as the Game Pad. I really hope Nintendo takes advantage of this if they release GameCube games of the Virtual Console, it would be a huge opportunity wasted if they don't...
