Will the Wii U even be able to handle emulateing that? Or they will just make it on Wii Mode?

Being able to use the Wii U Gamepad as a Gameboy Advance on a link cable( Tingle Turner, Animal Island). That would be pretty neat. Problem is that the Wii U would be able to handle that

Sadly I don't think gamecube games will ever be released as it takes to many man hours to release even 1 game. They can't just copy and paste code but they have to do major re-coding afaik.

I really wish they would though but if it hasn't happened yet I don't think it will.

I love the Wii U. Switch is getting better.

Where are the Dreamcast, Saturn, GC emulations?

All time favourite consoles are Master System, Atari 2600 & 3DO.

probably not wii u. but NX fo sho'

No, I think VC will be mainly Wii and N64 until NX releases.

There shouldn't be any reason the WiiU can't play a download version of GCN games. There's probably not enough life left in the WiiU to really have time to GameCube games to make an appearance.

I'd love to have GameCube games on the Wii U Virtual Console more than... pretty much anything gaming related. Thousand-Year Door and Melee are two games, in particular, that I want on my Wii U. Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and the first two Pikmin games (which I never played) would also be great to have. I hope they would fill the space of my widescreen TV, as opposed to the other Wii U VC games that only have a 4:3 aspect ratio. I don't get why NES-N64 games on Wii U can't be 16:9 either, especially considering they are already that way on the Wii Shop and their original consoles.

It really was a missed opportunity, especially since the Wii U can run GameCube games and they even made the GameCube adapter, but Nintendo did underproduce it...

This. So much this.

While I would like to see GCN games on the Wii U (having missed out on the system), I find it somewhat unlikely at this point. I find it to more likely be a selling point of the NX.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

It was such a waste, not having GCN games on the Wii U... but I'm crossing my fingers that they will be available for NX on launch. Now, if Nintendo decided to release a HD remake of Sunshine, I'd grab it day one.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

We've been torturing ourselves about GCN support since before the launch of the Wii U. It will be a case of NCL making it happen when they think they need to summon that library

another thread about this?

Not even that, it's still the same tired stuff filling it like how the games would have to be reprogrammed, completely ignoring the reality of the situation that has clearly demonstrated that the Wii U is fully capable of natively running GCN code with zero changes necessary.

The only new thing was someone complaining that 4:3 games aren't incorrectly stretched to 16:9 proportions by the Wii U when it upscales them. If he wants every inch of screen real estate used regardless that it would distort the picture, he needs to revert to 480p.

Then, it will operate "just like" the original consoles and the Wii does for him, thanks to moving the upscaling chores to the HDTV end and instructing it to stretch the picture instead of maintaining the 4:3 aspect ratio being sent to the television.

The Wii U when it's handling the upscaling, is doing it correctly.

With all of the companies re-releasing games from one generation past, I could see them maybe releasing them on the NX in retail disc form, but I don't see any coming to the Wii U. In the fact that they did re-release The Wind Waker, I think there would have been more...if the system sold as well as what they were hoping for. Sadly, since the system didn't do that well, they're just trying to keep the people like you and I who purchased it, happy by making enough games in the retail business...sadly, if they just released classic Gamecube titles to fill in the library, many people would stay away as they'd think that's all the system has to offer.

you shouldn't have sold your gamecubes chumps, then you wouldn't be complaining!!

While I would download almost every Gamecube game they put on the Virtual Console when they eventually do, I can't be bothered actually buying the games on the disc and playing them on my old Wii. I just don't play my old consoles.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

There are so many awesome GameCube games, Mario Kart Double Dash!! (best in the series, in my opinion), Super Mario Sunshine (best in the Mario 3D series, in my opinion), Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race Blue Storm... Very few have been re-edited on Wii: Pikmin 1 and 2, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario Tennis (with worse controls), Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (with worse controls)... Fortunately, I own a big GameCube collection but, for all the other people, I think GameCube games are much needed on a new Nintendo platform.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!
