It's on everyone's mind, surely? Nintendo have already made Gamecube adapters, so why not use them more? I could totally see myself paying a tenner for Kirby Air Ride, and other Gamecube titles. I could understand Wii virtual console games in some cases (Metroid Prime, for example), but why aren't Gamecube games, or even Nintendo 64 games, making it to the eShop? It doesn't make much sense...

the term virtual console is so loosely thrown around, the Wii games are not virtual console titles, they are digital disc isos that boot directly into Wii mode and run natively on the system's vWii. So as i've stated at least 7 times on this site if GCN titles come to the Wii U they will come using this same method as its much faster just to give is iso images of the games to run directly off of Wii mode/GCN mode rather than having a emulated game, which as N64 or lack of has shown, emulated virtual console titles take forever for Nintendo to make. So yes GameCube games should come to the Wii U, but not as Virtual Console emulations.
^ Wii games are still considered Virtual Console from Nintendo's Marketing stand point. On the Club Nintendo survey about them I got asked how I like the Virtual Console service and I believe they are under the Virtual Console tab in the Wii U eShop.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

For me on the eshop they are under "Wii retail/download" which is separate from the usual "Virtual Console" tabs.

it's sure is strange that noa and noe have different categorys for the same thing. it's like nintendo of japan just dropped the wii games in their lap with a price tag and let them figure it out.

Are they not under the Virtual Console tab either? Maybe they aren't considered Virtual Console. I figured they were.

Lots of things must come to the Virtual Console, truth be told. Nintendo really dropped the ball in this aspect of the Wii U, especially seeing how rich and diverse the Wii's VC library is.
As for Gamecube titles, I wasn't holding my breath, but the existence of the adapter is a good indication that they might be in the plans. Come to think of it, I'm still not holding my breath, though.
Yeah, I'd love GC games, although I already own most of the ones I want. Still, I'd definitely double dip in some of my favorites, especially Kirby Air Ride, to give the game some support.

That's properly due to Ninty abandoning the Virtual Console trademark which they chose not to renew and going forward they will just appear as NES, Wii etc.

Exactly.
I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

Well in the European eShop there's a Virtual Console area and one of the sections is Wii. It's a bit pedantic, but there you are.
If they can use disc images and Wii Mode to do GameCube games then that makes it more likely we'll see those titles that aren't getting an HD facelift sooner rather than later.
Tales of Symphonia, Arc Rise Fantasia and 2 Baten Kaitos games (which is more of an RPG/card battle mechanics)
Tales of Symphonia is a masterpiece
Arc is a Wii game.
On the GameCube, there is Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, Mega Man X Command Mission (which was also on PS2), and I think Skies of Arcadia Legends and Evolution Worlds are also JRPG.
Nintendo really dropped the ball with the Wii U virtual console. Instead of releasing games the masses want, let's give them NES games they've never heard of! Mappy-Land? WHAAAAAAT
