So I am a bit confused when this game arrives will I be able to play it on my current TV or will I have to use my CRT TV? I thought that modern TVs can't recreated the light gun technology needed for games like Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley? I mean this is coming to the VC so its just an emulation of the original game, or am I missing something?
You use the Wii Remote.
Yeah I figured that you would much like how you use a Wiimote to play other VC games but what I am talking about is the technology behind shooting the objects. Does it require a CRT TV or can I use my current TV?

You use your Wii remote and your sensor bar. The Wii remote's sensor never looks at your display and doesn't care what technology it uses, what size it is, etc. All it cares about are all those IR lights you can't see in your sensor bar.
Their NES emulator will do what any homebrew PC NES emulator will do with your mouse, translating it to allow the appropriate input to occur for the game to understand where you were shooting despite the lack of a light gun and a compatible television.
You will either aim with an on-screen cursor that you move around with your Wii remote, or hopefully, down the sights of something like the Perfect Shot gun shell if Nintendo implements a quality calibration system like Sega did on the Wii for their lightgun style arcade shooters (Allowing the on-screen cross-hair to be turned off while still shooting accurately).
@GoneFishin: The reason that they can't do Super FX is that Nintendo doesn't fully own the Super FX chip technology A company named Argonaut Games developed the chip for Nintendo.
Please stop repeating this, folks. As I've posted more than once around here, not only is that reason unconfirmed as ever having been behind this, it's impossible as the reason today. All Super FX patents have expired and entered the public domain.
That technology is public property now, free for anyone to use.

Ah ok that makes sense. I was just worried I would have had to hook up my Wii U to my CRT. Thanks for the explanation.

It still says TBA on the eShop. Also if you go to the page for duckhunt on the eShop, Nintendo has posted some pictures and you can see one where the pointer for the remote is on the screen.

I look forward to tapping ducks on the screen of my Game Pad.
Too bad that's not how the game works.

Allow Roo to educate you ...
I just saw that episode last night. Roo just cracks me up at times.
So the reason I came to this thread is I have to ask. Does anyone know if player 2 will be able to control the duck?

The eShop listing says 1-2 players, so I would assume that this is the case.

They also claim that it apparently won't have a calibration system that allows for accurate aiming without an on-screen crosshair.
But it's worth noting that nothing of the sort is mentioned in the press release and that there's no evidence that they wrote that article with any more information than what Nintendo publicly released. So I wouldn't be surprised if that detail in the NintendoLife article is just an assumption on the part of the NintendoLife editor writing it, rather than a confirmed fact.
So I'm still holding out hope that their Zapper implementation works like Sega's various Wii arcade shooters did.

So the reason it doesn't work on HDTV's: LAG. Makes sense.
