So now we officially have DS VC on Wii U, what would people like to see? I had a Japanese LL and a number of Japanese carts, but I did buy local region stuff, though true to tell I was never the biggest handheld gamer so my list is pretty modest:

Metroid Prime Pinball
Monster Rancher DS (Tecmo, so not impossible, but I'd rather have a new HD one for Wii U)
G.G. Series (Japanese collection of arcade-like DSiWare releases - unlikely, but I can dream)

  • Giana Sisters DS
  • Retro Game Challenge
  • Pac-Pix
  • Pac 'N Roll
  • Mighty Flip Champs!
  • Mighty Milky Way!

This is just what I've immediately come up with, the DS is the PS2 of handhelds.

For me personally it's the Zelda games, spirit tracks and phantom hourglass. The DS is the only Nintendo console that I never owned, due to my parents going through a tough time financially when it came out and me being at the age where I didn't have a job to pay for all things Nintendo, as I do now

All I care about are games that would benefit from playing on the TV (namely Super Mario 64 DS, the Kingdom Hearts games, and 999).

Final Fantasy III and IV DS remakes. Kingdom Hearts, Lufia (The DS release was published by Natsume so it's definitely a possibility). Harvest Moon DS titles and Rune Factory Frontier (DS) and of course Pokemon even if it's just the spinoff games like Mystery Dungeon and Ranger.

I'm really excited for the chance to get Metroid Prime Hunters off of the eShop so I can have a screenshot tool and discuss the game again in a specific community. I'm hoping for an August release, but considering how Zero Mission has been treated, I really have no idea when NOA will decide to put MPH on the shop.

Eliminating 3D polygonal games since they look awful on a HDTV at their native resolution, motion focused games (Why buy a game to play on my HDTV, that will have me looking at the gamepad screen all the time?), games with the playfield spread across both screens, and games with significant amounts of incidental touch controls (Imagine the camera controls in Super Mario 64 DS, well out of thumb range on the Wii U gamepad), I'm left with this list of potential candidates in my DS collection that I'd willingly rebuy to play on the big screen.

New Super Mario Bros. DS (3D polygonal characters, but the 2D levels should upscale just fine).
Konami Arcade Classics
Intellivision Lives
Atari Greatest Hits: Volume 1
Atari Greatest Hits: Volume 2

Other games like Retro Game Challenge would make the jump well, but I don't have enough interest in them to want to replay them on my tv. I'd love to see Retro Game Challenge 2 be translated and released though, but there's not a chance of that happening.

And I'd be interested in the Castlevania DS trilogy and both Mario & Luigi titles. I never played any of the five, but they appear to potentially be decent candidates for making the jump. However, there are issues evident here after just a cursory look that might change that, like how the Castlevania titles utilize the touch screen for the gameplay screen and the upper screen for the map.

Although easy enough to fix, it's not yet catered for as best as I can ascertain with a screen option that would allow the lower screen to be displayed on your HDTV while the upper screen is on the Wii U gamepad. If I'm stuck not even being able to really use my tv, I'd just track them down in cartridge form and play on my 3DS XL.

What's the DS Games Japan received for the VC? As for mine:

"Super Princess Peach"
"Sonic Rush" (Unlikely given "SEGA" not releasing "Sonic Advance" yet in US)
"New Super Mario Bros DS" (I think this is the only game JPN received)
"Super Mario 64 DS"
"Kirby Canvas Curse" (it's sequel is on the "Wii U" so maybe they'll pull a "Yoshi Island" in which the prequel and sequel's on the VC).

Who are you?

My wishlist:
Yoshi's Island DS (should be coming soon)
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon
Star Fox Command
Metroid Prime Hunters
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks
Donkey Kong Jungle Climber
Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 March of the Minis

What I don't want to arrive for awhile if at all is:
New Super Mario Bros (that franchise is way too saturated)
Super Mario 64 DS (the N64 original is already available)

Some of my choices are a bit unlikely due to their focus on multiplayer gameplay

It's also hard to decide because some games are better on handheld and lose value sat on the Wii U menu in my opinion.

Mario Party DS - still a solid single player experience. They did the advance version but that is solely single player.
Bomberman DS - yeah, multiplayer so not likely
Sonic Classic Collection - has all 4 main Genesis titles, would be better than releasing them on VC individually. Also has Knuckles crossplays in Sonic 2 and 3 incorporated.
Meteos - great forgotten action puzzle game early on in the DS era
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky - very expensive to pick this up in Europe on cartridge, would like to play this.
Nintendogs - might be hard due to the 3 different versions, they'd have to do all 3 games pretty much!
Harvest Moon DS titles - already been mentioned.

Nothing else really comes to mind. I've invested a lot in DS/3DS titles in the last few months since Wii U has been somewhat lacking up until about now so there aren't many DS titles I want now

Eh, I'm not a big DS guy, and most of the games I do like on the thing really work better as handheld games (Elite Beat Agents and Phoenix Wright come to mind). I could see buying NSMB and Mario Kart DS. Maybe Super Princess Peach and Tetris DS. That's probably about it.

For me it's both Mario and Luigi games, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, New Super Mario Bros, both Zelda games, and Animal Crossing Wild World if the Wii U doesn't get an Animal Crossing game.

Contra IV, besides the issue of presentation (As demonstrated by Yoshi's Island DS which could've been zoomed in much further for a significantly larger picture), has another issue.

Like Bionic Commando from Capcom, for whatever reason, the original NES version of Contra has never made a Virtual Console appearance. Yet whatever the reason for that, it's present in Contra IV as I recall along with Super C.

That could potentially keep Contra IV off here, despite Konami's support of the Virtual Console, since somebody sure doesn't seem to want the original NES Contra to be made available digitally.
