Okay I thought this game would be on eshop tomorrow but it seems its release is today, awesome. Never played the 2nd installment so i'm excited! Oh yeah how do pull that trick where you roll and then jump and you're supposed to jump further? Because I seem to miss something.

It helps you "jump" further if you roll right before a drop, then jump when you're halfway across. You can jump in midair if you do this.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Aren't the PAL versions of the DKC games actually good? Like, everything runs at the same speed as the NTSC versions during gameplay (just the intros that are slower)? True that that's not the case for most PAL games on the virtual console…
Well guess I wont be getting Diddy's Conquest then.
i'm glad I'm not that self-centered to refuse to play games for narrow-minded reasons. I just downloaded DKC2 and I will enjoy DKC2.
I don't support PAL conversions on the Eshop. It's that simple. I don't see how "self-centered" comes into it.
Easy. You don't support PAL conversions on the eshop. You'd rather do without a game entirely than dip your standards of perfection to 90%. PAL DKC2 is fine. Its still enjoyable as it is. Whatever minor drops in quality it has to the NTSC version is easily overlooked, if you knew there were any there at all.
Aren't the PAL versions of the DKC games actually good?
Yes. There would be some noticeable difference if you had the two versions running side by side but its really no big deal. The PAL version doesn't make the game bad to play or to look at.

Yeah but the thing is during the repeated frame it cannot respond to button input. (On the Wii wouldn't have been an issue).
There is no good way to do 50hz outputting to a 60hz screen like the Gamepad. (Same reason the Steam version of the Chaos Engine is such a mess).
I'm not sure what the button response rate but I'm sure an emulator isn't necessarily tied to the emulated refresh rate for receiving button input.
I do recall reading one of Nintendo's only "SNES vs. Genesis" comparisons and they compared the controller's response time. I think it was like 279ns for SNES and maybe like 580ns for Genesis (I don't know, but I know it was a Nintendo ad so I'm sure the Genesis stat was worse or they wouldn't have printed it ).
Oh no the Genesis controller is slower! That response time might make a difference if you were able to press your controllers buttons a few thousand times a second (I think that was the math I got, but I forget exactly)!

Oh. That's a shame. I don't know if that's actually noticeable, but even if it isn't, Nintendo shouldn't continue to release suboptimal versions like that.
I guess Nintendo put up the PAL version because the SNES controller appears in-game and they wanted to keep regional authenticity. For example:
Played the first two worlds of DKC1 and I can see what miyamoto means, it being style over substance. Didn't think much of DKL1 either. Thankfully returns and tropical freeze were awesome.

He was talking about DKC2, and that was not what he meant.
I really wish NA would get these already.

i think that we will get donkey kong land 1-3 on the 3ds in 2015
my projection:
Dec. 2014 - march 2015 around there we still have not got the December list for virtual console and being around Christmas and that they might do it then
i hope this happens December is the month of donkey kong this would be a great idea for them but it takes 1-5 month on average to get virtual console that Europe has
but i think we will get some games in December

Will it matter what's released if Nintendo's shop follow their history of going down during the holiday weeks?
(and Nintendo's solution last year to ONLY keep it open during PEAK hours? GREEEEEAT IDEA. )
