The review mentioned customizable controls... anyway that you can adjust the control scheme so that there's a better way to control the camera than in the N64 version?

Has anybody else had trouble using the jetpack? I've just got the jetpack and it doesn't seem to move, only hover. It's doesn't seem to matter what I press it just won't go anywhere except for hover. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
update
If anybody comes across the same problem, I simply exited the game and restarted it and it seems to work fine. I have no idea what happened. The controls just seems unresponsive. Love this game.
Never understood the hate for this game, amazing game imo, with amazing music and and amazing graphics for the time that hold up now with the good framerate finally.
Save states do wonders for the DK arcade game, I've 101%ed the game plenty in the past and am using these features to have a less stressful 101% run. Collectathons were my favorite part of the N64 library, and DK64 is most shameless about its collectathon status. Banjo Kazooie and Tooie are both better games in my opinion (with Tooie being my favorite of the group), but DK64 stuffs more collecting than anything else in my opinion. Between bananas, golden bananas, banana fairies, crowns, blueprints, banana medals, coins to buy upgrades - I mean, these overlap - and for five characters no less... yes, it's a lot of backtracking, and it's not for everyone, but there's just so much to collect.
I put a few hours into this yesterday and a bunch more today. At one point the game froze and I lost a little progress (not much due to my save obsession) which irritated me and I stopped for a couple hours... then just jumped back in. Finished Jungle Japes, only have Chunky left for Angry Aztecs, and about halfway through Frantic Factory. I love this game, I'd give it a 9/10.

@mrGREEK360 Does this game actually have a decent frame rate on the Wii U? Cause I when I played it recently on the n64 it was pretty awful. And I usually don't even care about stuff like that.
but DK64 is a bit better than Banjo-Kazooie, in terms of gameplay, .
I would say (personal opinion only) that's a blasphemy, DK64 is the worst 3D platformer rare ever made while Banjo Kazooie is a masterpiece second only to Mario 64
I agree, BLASPHEMY! ...Based on the condition that it's N64 games (or at least games of that era). DK64 had so much potential, but it felt so watered down because of the hyper tedious level of collecting. M64 and Banjo-Kazooie just felt more concise; with just the right amount of collecting without going overboard.

That's your opinion, I like Dk64 much more. Just because you like something more doesn't mean it's bad if Somone likes something else more..
IMO I like the music much more in DK64, I think it looks better then Banjo Kazooie and like the charcter designed better in dk64. I like the story more in DK64 then both the Banjo games... I owned Dk64 Banjo Kazooie/Tooie on n64 and still own the carts today, my more nostalgic memories also come moe from Donkey Kong 64 and not the Banjo franchise. Yes it is a collectathon but I like collecting and you don't need everything to complete the story, if you all are to OCD that you need to 100% a game well that's your fault not the game.
I love the tedious hyper-collecting. It's not for everyone, no, but believe it or not, there are people who love games of this caliber.
This game made me the gamer I am today, and is still just as memorable as I remember. It's aged very well, and I look forward to 101%ing it once again. I own two physical cartridges because I wanted that many save files, and in my opinion, the Pro Controller is the premium way to play.

Same here.
In fact, it was the SNES DKC trilogy that made me an avid collector in games, and this one, while still not as good as the SNES titles in my opinion, just turns the dial up to eleven in that regard. I'm loving every minute of my playthrough on Wii U.

It's much better on the WiiU overall except the camera still is trying to fight with me sometimes, but I'm thinking it's just N64 configurations that are doing it cause it's acting very N64 with me (because it is lol). I myself have also just recently compared the two.
So I'm at work now, and all I can think of is continuing to play through Gloomy Galleon when I get home tonight.
This game is seriously a lot better than I remembered. I'm loving how hardcore the collecting is, and the one problem I can think of is how some of the controls haven't really aged well (ahem, Diddy's rocket barell). Still, the lukewarm Nintendo Life review is a disservice to its awesomeness. If you're on the fence, by all means get it.
