Only the third, but the first was a monochrome release from about 1990 and the next was a straight arcade conversion on Pac-Man Collection for the GBA.
Plus, its appeal wasn't so much in bringing Pac-Man arcade home since the NES effort was a fair ways off. The appeal was bringing the NES version to the GBA for those that grew up on it. The Classic NES line was all about nostalgia, and to a lesser extent, collecting.
And later on, Namco Museum: 50th Anniversary Collection added a second straight arcade conversion to the Game Boy range.
I like the idea of wii games on that dont require the sandbox. I do hope that nintendo is able to support a steady rollout though. I'd love to play TP with the gampad as the aiming device. Not going to happen but it would be cool.

Wii games just seem easier to implement. I think it is just a matter of time for GameCube. Depends on how well Nintendo starts doing financially.
Is it? Or are they going to give them the $49.99 "HD" treatment?
I don't know why they would try to remake all GameCube games in HD for re-release rather than just requiring players to have the GameCube adapter and releasing them as they are for download, probably for $15.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Now that you mention it I wonder if there will be GC adapter support for Wii games that originally had GC compatibility. Sin & Punishment was one of the few titles that had it and it was confirmed in the EU direct.

Does it work in Wii Mode? As far as I can tell these Wii VC games just auto boot the Wii Mode to run them. The only added thing they talked about was using the GamePad instead of a classic controller.

They also come with a digital scan of the original manual just like the GBA VC titles.

That is pretty cool, even though I never use game manuals lol

I feel like technically this should be possible even if it literally boots you into compatibility mode without MiIVerse or any of the other features. Making it so that when "WiiMode" boots it acts like the game download is the disk. Also when people say Homebrew guys have done it? You could do this on the Wii so it's not a shock the same exploits exist in WiiMode. The difficulty for Nintendo is putting the games on the eShop, letting you pay for them and THEN booting into Wii compatibility mode.

Nintendo is just fine financially if you really look into it, I imagine this is the first step towards giving us gamecube games as those will require booting into Wii mode in order to run, then there is the issue of controller mapping for most if not all GCN games. The gamecube adaptors from Nintendo and Mayflash are simple solutions, but I imagine they'd want to implement the gamepad in someway shape or form. Either way, these Wii releases are a decent step in the right direction! hopefully it doesn't slack off like the VC service has.

The Financially remark was basically saying if the Wii VC games sell well.

Out of the first batch I can see Prime Trilogy doing really well, especially since your lucky getting ahold of the standard disc edition new for under $100, for $10 now on the first week, thats a steal. I can see wii games that sold well (like the galaxy and zelda games) doing well but its the rare games that are considerably over-priced via disc now that would do really well.
Looking around for the Metroid Prime Trilogy the best I see for the PAL version is between around $60 and $80AU. I remember seeing a copy in the wild post-Wii U launch in the shops new and that was going for about the same. And looking around at other titles most Wii games go for between $10 and $30AU. So the price they're putting these out at? $13 in the first week, $26 after? It's pretty decent.

From Nintendo's perspective I cannot see that this would have taken a lot of effort to implement so these games won't need to do big numbers to be profitable - I mean in most cases the games made their money when originally released.
Now I'm really hoping they'll use this as an opportunity to correct some omissions in global releases during the Wii days: Excite Bots PAL release, NPC Chibi Robo - they had the localisation from the worldwide release of the gamecube version so why was this a Japan exclusive???
Adding the Wii games to the virtual library is a good idea to me...it keeps you from having more disc cases laying around the house, and then you also don't have to do the pain of picking up the remote, flipping to the wii channel, waiting for that to boost up, hitting the game menu, and starting. To me, it's less work. As for gamecube, for some unknown reason, I don't see them adding gamecube games until their next system...it's just the way that nintendo seems to work...if they do add them, it would be the last year of the wii u's cycle, and it would only be a few, and then they'd be done until the next console, where they would release the same ones that were released, but making sure that all of the original nes games would be available for the new console. I agree with people stating that they need to work on their account system...I'm tired of buying the same games for each system...I still think the gameboy advance games are too expensive ($8 for a game that is not as in depth as a super nintendo title for the same price), but that seems to be nintendo...they never seem to drop their own games in price...Lego City Undercover is still expensive, and I don't get why Legend Of Zelda The Wind Waker HD is still $50, when you can get it on Gamecube for $20...it's just a graphic improvement.
