Might as well make a thread for one of my favorite SNES games now that it's out on VC. I just downloaded it, but to be quite honest, I've played it at a friends house years ago and we could only beat the forest boss. I'm gonna try hard to play this game without the save states, but I might very well be tempted...

Anybody else get this game? How far are you? Got any tips?

Never played it. Would download it on day one when it comes here.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Demon's Crest is a really atmospheric game, and I like it a lot. The gameplay can get really hard, though.
A recommendation to anyone who's getting this game, is to search the world map thoroughly - there's a reason you can fly around and try to land anywhere.
Also, ALWAYS go through a stage twice, and try new powers on anything even remotely suspicious, since some secrets are very hard to spot, but incredibly useful.
And, just to mention it: Demon's Crest has multiple endings, and they all depend on what you've found before facing the final boss. Getting 100% unlocks something, as well.

<insert title of hyped game here>

Yes! Just beat that green dude! Was hard as hell (as were all the bosses so far...) but it was worth it! I recall getting different powers, though...like, swimming and breaking blocks...guess I still got more to find!

This game is one of those games you definitely feel like you accomplished something when you beat it. I beat it a couple of years ago on my SNES including the ]secret boss and best ending! Good luck, explore everywhere and make sure to get everything!

Also, don't be shy about using save-states on those stupid headbutting minigames. It's not worth the agony...

Agreed, next time I play this I will probably use save states for that though. I spent a lot of time on this. I recommend practicing headbutting on the town windows!

I'm more than 3/4's of the way through Demon's Crest already and I just bought it on the Wii U VC yesterday. I think I've explored most of the first 5 levels completely explored, so now I'm going to focus on VI. Just need: 3 more health extensions (I know where 2 of them are already), one more urn (know where it is...sort of...), one more Vellum, 2 more talismans, 1 more fire power, and 1 or 2 more crests (not sure if I can get the last one before the final boss), then I'll go and fight the big nasty.

I can't say its a masterpiece if the game is ridiculously hard and frustrating to play. It may be well made, but the path to completing the game needs to be satisfying, not just the feeling of beating the game. Now if it had fairer difficulty settings, I may well agree.

It is fair, though. Like, I'm a very apathetic gamer, yet I actually got all the way to the end of the game, and the only reason I stopped was because I got stuck on a minigame I needed to complete to get the final Health upgrade and achieve the "True ending", and decided to move on. It really isn't frustrating at all. It's difficult, but you have infinite lives, almost always decent checkpoints (only exception I could think of was the dark cave where you light the chandeliers), plenty of menueverability, and you can choose which stages to play a la Mega Man, so you never really get stuck. Also, you can potentially grab power-ups that make certain, otherwise difficult sections a total breeze.

It's still not a perfect game, but it's definitely a fair and enjoyable game.
