So I have never played this one before so I have to ask is it a classic Castlevania style game or a Metroidvania?

I guess this thread will serve as well as the CotM thread as well so discuss away.

Metroidvania, and it's better then the other 2 GBA in my opinion. The music is fantastic, so many great remixes.

To blessed to be stressed.

I really enjoyed the Magic Card system in the game! I can't wait till tomorrow (payday for me) so I can get this and play thru it again.

Ok so I keep reading everywhere that this game is hard to see, what exactly does that mean? Are the graphics that bad or do they blur or something? Are the sprites tiny? Will playing the game on the Wii U alleviate that problem? I played the other two on GBA on both a GBA and a DSlite and didnt think they were hard to see.

This was only a problem on the original GBA. Because it wasn't backlit, it was sometimes hard to see certain games depending on the lighting, and this was even worse for Circle of the Moon. To the point that they intentionally made the other Castlevania GBA games much brighter just because of how much of a problem this was.

Ah ok I just was concerned and didnt want to get it if I couldn't see the darn thing due to graphical problems.

I've never had lighting issues with any game that was played on my GBA SP.

Well, exactly. The SP was made partially to make sure you can better see the games.

also, I saw the battery life of the SP and then got mad at my 3DS

I wholly agree.

I don't get all the hype surrounding Aria of Sorrow. To me it felt like a couple of steps backward in just about any regard.

And I even beat CotM on the original GBA (not SP) including all the different modes you could unlock.

I've been playing COTM more then any other game on my Wii U lately. It's like a whole different game when you can actually see the screen.

I think it's because Aria of Sorrow played the most like Symphony of the Night.

This game is great. I'm not the biggest fan of the Metroidvania games outside of SOTN, but this one is just so well made.

Beat it. On to Harmony of Dissonance next.

Circle of the Moon has a lot on offer, but it's also a bit hard at first. The Card System is fun, but sadly very broken. The combat is challenging, but also a bit slow.
Really, when you're looking at the whole picture, Circle of the Moon has a good deal of shortcomings, but unlike Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow, it's still thoroughly entertaining. The only thing that REALLY annoyed me was the deviously low drop rate for some cards, with some being totally OP, while others are useless by default.

I tried my best to collect as much as I could. I was level 53 and played for ten hours and had like 96% or so. It's a great game.

HoD, on the other hand, has been an absolute slog.

reason im asking is because i dont think too many people realize how many little secrets there are in the metriodvania games.
like for instance i just found out how to get the rifle in aria of sorrow:

theres way too much to try and do in these games lol
