I have two ds copies. But maybe.

I'd rather get the game cube or Wii games though. I never played those.

Why would you want to play the DS version on Wii U when Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City/City Folk is fully compatible with the Wii U and is virtually the exact same game as Wild World (with superior graphics/performance)? I can't think of anything included in the DS version specifically that the Wii version doesn't already have (except for local multiplayer, which would be forfeited in a Wii U VC version anyway). A rerelease of the Wii version via the Wii U eShop is a possibility, though unlikely if a new main series Animal Crossing is on its way next year (seeing as Nintendo have already done most of the work by creating the character models and environments for the upcoming Animal Crossing: Amiibo Party game).

Considering that almost every Animal Crossing game is simply an improvement over previous games in the series, there's really no rational reason why Nintendo would or even should entertain the idea of rereleasing prior AC games as VC titles. Not even nostalgia is really enough to lure me back to playing Wild World as New Leaf improves upon it in every conceivable way.

I have a feeling that a new main series Animal Crossing game is in the works for 2016, and I assume that it will incorporate the mechanics of both New Leaf and Happy Home Designer into a single game. If not next year, then it will almost certainly be an NX launch title.

No thanks, AC:U over a virtual console one.

The top screen would be so strange to deal with in this game on the WiiU, unless you did that mode where they both fit on the gamepad (unless im just imagining that exists in which the question still stands either way). The TV just shows the sky all the time? Unless a balloon floats by or etc that barely ever happen as it is.

@sillygostly: I wouldn't expect a main series game until 2017 at the earliest; New Leaf still has plenty of life in it.

@the-madprofessor: I did not insinuate that New Leaf had no life left in it; however, considering the commercial failure of the Wii U, I would expect the NX to be launched in 2017 at the latest (which is relatively short for a console cycle). So far, Nintendo has announced very, very little for Wii U in 2016 (the only games that spring to mind at the moment are Pokken Tournament and the Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem crossover). I think Nintendo are keeping the next main series Animal Crossing game under wraps so that it doesn't affect potential sales of Amiibo Festival and Happy Home Designer (both of which have received mixed, if not poor reception from critics and fans), which are really just an easy means to fill the release schedule until something more substantial comes along. With next to nothing announced for 2016, I predict that the next console Animal Crossing game will either be released in 2016, or will be a launch title to kick off the NX with at least one AAA first-party title.

Considering that they have put in the effort to create the world of Animal Crossing for Wii U in the form of Amiibo Party, I have little doubt in my mind that the next main series game is close to completion. Time will tell, of course.

Because this is the Virtual Console. Of course many games are going to be inferior to modern games but we want them anyway due to nostalgia reasons and what not. There are many games I have or would download even though there is a better modern version available.

I wasn't aware so many people have continually been requesting it.

Pokémon Red and Blue would have to be on 3DS if they were still releasing VC games for it. Only GBA and DS Pokémon games could come to Wii U VC. But I would like N64 Pokémon Stadium to come to the VC with built-in Pokémon Red and Blue so you can play the GB games on Wii U in color.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Considering there is NO animal crossing for wii u, the least they could do is put it on VC.

Too bad you would be unable to "complete" the game, since you need someone from a different town to visit your Tom Nook store for it to reach the final upgrade.

I totally forgot about that. That'd be an awful disappointment. At least you can do it locally on a DS but the WiiU would be screwed.

And I understand that nostalgic longing. Hell, I would love to be able to play the original Pokémon games via VC, however, my question is why request Wild World when the Wii game is virtually identical to it in every way (apart from the barebones city which only makes events that are ordinarily sporadic in the DS version more accessible in the Wii version)? If Nintendo are considering adding previous Animal Crossing games to the Wii U, then they could add the Wii version, sure, but the DS version would be completely redundant on a home console.

In this case, as usual with virtual console, redundancy is irrelevant. They're different games, people who played wild world as kids or were introduced to the series by it will surely be interested in playing it again.

I actually still play my copy very regularly, I like it more than the newer games.

What's wrong with New Leaf? Does Wild World has something unique compared to other titles?

Some random dude on Nintendo Life.

@Dankykong @morpheel Having a buddy buy something from your store was just the quick method. You still can upgrade it by buying 250,000 worth of stuff just like the Gamecube days

@Bass_X0 Just hope they do something vc related for the 20th ani.
