CVG understands that following a disappointing E3 reveal - and public confusion over 3DS - serious discussions are ongoing at the highest level in the US and Japan as to whether the firm should cut its losses and give the console a different name.
How many of you would like a rebrand or are you OK with what you know about the Wii U at this moment?
To blessed to be stressed.

What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
The name "Wii U" just takes some getting used to. What they really need to do is make it look cooler. The design of the Gamecube and Wii were just boring, they should take a page out of their own book and make it look awesome like the SNES or the N64.
Rebrand would be a smart idea. I already know what Wii U is, and don't really care if they change the name or not... but people who aren't following gaming news can (and have already been) confused over what Wii U actually is. As boring as Wii 2 would be (for example), it's still infinitely more clear to the general public what they are getting... and for a company that relies on casual and extended market sales the way Nintendo does that could translate directly into dollars.
Nintendo should keep the Wii name as a console brand, similar to how "Game Boy" and "DS" are their handheld brands. Also, "PlayStation" is Sony's console brand, and "Xbox" is Microsoft's console brand.
@therick112 Then it should have a name change each software update, "Super Wii 2" " "Super Wii 3" " "Super Wii 4". each one having it's power multiplied.
I actually kind of prefer the name Wii U to Wii. I've never liked that name and still don't (but then, I'm British, and over here "wee" is the most commonly used word for urine, so for Brits it's always been a particularly silly name). The "U" takes the edge off it slightly, though it still sounds a bit odd.
Maybe with the confusion over the 3DS name (and the fact that the design looked so similar), that people didn't realize it was a new console, then it might be right to change the name. I don't know. Another thing is that the Wii brand now has an awful lot of baggage and stigma attached to it, particularly among the core gamers that they're trying to win back. And overall the Wii brand isn't nearly as strong as it was a couple of years ago. But then it is a brand that's associated with simplicity and accessibility, which is definately a good thing for Nintendo. Who knows...
I'm not going to lie, I still think "Wii U" is a pretty stupid name. I'm happy that Nintendo is considering renaming the console, hopefully to something more interesting.
