I like how he just adds it at the end, no big whoop. Wish I could see the illustration.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Haha, true...but we knew one was coming, and this isn't TOO much new info. Still, it's reassuring.

MDee, what game is your avatar from?

Actually, it's been confirmed forever, and there's unfortunately almost no new information. He seems so unsure about the smallest details of the game, which implies it is not moving along quickly. I'd be surprised if we have a new Zelda on Wii by next year even, judging by his comments.

OK, time for Captain Optimism to get back to reading the live feed.

Oh I know it's Link! I wasn't being wry or sarcastic...I just wonder what specific game that's from. I've never seen that sprite before. I guess someone just made it themselves.

IGN's known that a Zelda Wii was in the works for quite a while. Miyamoto didn't tell us anything new, just confirmed what was already obvious.

Miyamoto confirmed a Zelda was being worked on over a year ago. It wasn't a secret. All that we know now is that progress has at least included painting a picture of Link and some blue-clothed girl. Party time!

I agree with Adam. In fact, after the reaction of some fans to Twilight I think we may see a delay of Ocarina proportions.

@Adam
According to IGN, Link looked "older than previous titles". Hope this means a more mature Zelda game... Even darker than TP or MM!

I just hope it isn't as monotonous as Twilight Princess. I don't think it is the maturity of Link that made the game feel so tired. It's that the whole world was so constantly dark with few different colors. The music was way too ominous all the time. It was just depressing. I much, much, much prefer the dark world of Link to the Past. They managed to make it look dark and colorful, with the music foreboding and adventurous. The dark world theme is one of Zelda's catchiest songs. I can't remember a single song from Twilight Princess except Midna's Lament, and only because I hear it on that Brawl stage often.

I think Twilight Princess is proof that Nintendo does not know what it means to make a "mature" game, but hopefully they've learned from it. I have hardly played Majora's Mask, but it seems like good inspiration to draw from, based on what I've heard, for such an approach.

I agree, and now that I think about it... Some could argue Wind Waker has "the darkest story"... Especially when you go under the waves to Old Hyrule. Plus, it was super innovative with it's graphics (colorful!)

I liked the bit in Wind Waker where you could see Hyrule but couldn't get there because of an invisible wall. Not dark exactly, but pehaps eery.

There is a little more to the Zelda illustration then metioned,to quote from a website:[Miyamoto was] showing a Twilight Princess-style realistic, teen link, with a luminescent young woman. He promised that it will -- most likely -- debut at next E3, and may well be Wii Motion Plus only, depending on sales of the peripheral. Very intresting,is it Midna perhaps?

Yay, a new "mature" Zelda...Whoopee...

Seriously, every time Nintendo tries to make Zelda more "mature", I like it less. Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess are my least favorite console Zeldas. Of course, the hardcore fans eat it up. "Majora was my favorite villian", even though he has zero backstory and motivation. "Zant was so awesome," even though he got hijacked by Ganon in the end.

I just want a new, innovative Zelda where I get to explore Hyrule in a fresh, new way. New dungeons that make me think and use new items in creative ways. New and interesting races that fit in with the Zelda mythos and make the world seem more alive. New bosses with new attack patterns. Zelda's story has always taken a backseat to that.

Sorry to darken the waters. I'm just as stoked as most of you that there is going to be a new Zelda. The prospect of WiiMotionPlus in the game has me drooling. It just has so much potential to change Zelda like only the transition to 3D has.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

@SuperSonic
One of the blogs said the girl looked generic and was probably meant to be Zelda. Midna would have been instantly recognizable if it were she. I do hope she returns, though.

I've seen the picture, and let me say this: i'm going to kill whoever took a photo of it. You NEVER take photos in a private Nintendo interview without permission. NEVER!

As long as it's different in content to Twilight Princess I'm interested. If it looks like a formula Zelda game with fetch quests in various element-themed lands then I'll probably pass.
