I think I'll probably like it, and I'm making sure that I know absolutely nothing about it until it comes out(and I don't even know its release date!), so I'll actually be surprised for once.
Online would be nice, but I'll live without it. I'd rather play local more often than not. My hopes aren't much:
A bigger character roster than shown
Levels that aren't ridiculously easy
Somewhat deep competitive elements to make replaying it a lot of fun
Not significantly less fun with only 1 or 2 players Mario has needed something like this for a long time. Glad to see 2D Mario back on the home console after so long.
Your first hope may come true, but I have SERIOUS doubts about your other three.
is there sarcasm here because I thought the opposite given how New SMB on DS played the large roster of characters seems the most unlikely to me the single player will always be great because its a 2D Mario and the same is true with level replayability but I don't expect to see a large selection of characters because... well... its Mario Bros not Smash Bros :S
on topic, I am super hyped about this game it ticks all the boxes in my criteria for being hyped about a game and some more
