Except that I don't think anyone did pass judgment? Oh well. I'll certainly be renting it at the very least. Might just wait to see what Nintendo Life has to say.

I'll let you know sooner, since it's one of the rare games I've ever pre-ordered!

I would pre-order if I could; the only date we have so far for Europe is "Winter 2009," but there's so much coming in the last few months of this year (pending date slippage), I'm not in any hurry!

Damn, didn't expect that. How could the combat be that bad?

Well aside from the opponents being too easy, it might have to do with the controls. For example, you have to waggle every time you want to jump. Also, the A button has two different functions, and you have to hold it down to guard... which means that it takes a second to register that you're guarding, during which you're vulnerable to attack.

Plus, it seems you're not actually controlling which kind of sword move you do, since you just hit the A button to be awesome - button-mashing, or A button + waggle (and all motion actions have delays, which make them feel imprecise if done in real-time), with the only variety lent to it by switching swords or characters. But the swords don't have much variety and the characters play the same.

It probably would have gotten a better score if the combat were deeper by giving you purchasable abilities and exclusive abilities for the two different characters that can chain together in different combinations, and if it had more characters with unique abilities/handicaps, like in God Hand and Viewtiful Joe.

Yikes, that sounds awful. Why they didn't just go with some more traditional controls is beyond me. Motion controls have ruined too many potentially good Wii games. Odin Sphere's controls and combat worked beautifully and simply. Oh well.

Well they said in an early interview that they were developing it only to have the Classic Controller (why they didn't also support GC controller is beyond me) and that they didn't want to do motion controls because they're too imprecise, or may just tack it on in the end...

Since motion controls are actually now in the game and the standard control method, I'm not sure if anything they said before still holds and if the game still supports Classic Controller. No reviews seem to mention that you can use the CC so I'm going to say no you can't use it.

Developers should realise at this point that unless you have a slo-mo section in your game, don't use wiimote motion controls. But I'm not sure there are enough accessible buttons on the wiimote+nunchuk to make a deep fighting game.

i am sad now, because I was very much looking forward to this title. :/ I suppose I'll have to go the rental route.
