How far am I into the game? I'm in Frontier village and have been playing for around 21 hours. Keep in mind I'm not bothering with many sidequests or rebuilding Colony 6. Do you think I can beat the game in less than 50 hours if I don't do any sidequests that are out of my way (though I do explore each area fairly thoroughly)?

Hmmm...
You have quite a bit left to go...
I'd say you are 33-39% done story-wise.

@SamuraiShyGuy: I didn't do much in the way of sidequesting and it took me nearly 100 hours to beat the game. does anyone know if someone's tried speedrunning Xenoblade yet (first playthrough, not NG+)? i'm curious about the bare minimum time to get through it now, lol :3

I think SamuraiShyGuy has a point. The combat does seem like water rinse repeat! However that's not to much different then most rpgs. You use what work the best to take down the enemies! At least you can make those skills stronger. And yes the gems change things up a bit when some enemies rip you apart with special effects! There is strategy however you could just level build and waist those enemies that give you a hard time.

There's no way I can bare 80 more hours of this game. From now on I'm going to avoid pretty much every single side quest and maybe do less exploration. Like, if a Nopon asks me to pick up a pencil he dropped that's literally two feet away from him I'll still blow him off. :D

So I finally got to Prison Island.

I'm assuming this is when the story finally starts getting...worthy of the entire rest of the game after all of that. Or they could just have another vision that takes 20+ hours to get to. I could see that happening too.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!

A question for who have finished it.

Just finished fighting Egil. I have not fully completed side quests/H2Heart videos and it appears that I can't return due to story progression. My goal is (almost) 100% completion of side quests in the game. Should I reload the game and complete these before fighting Egil? Or does the game allow me to return to them later?

Cheers.

@kkslider: yeah, i'd say Prison Island is probably the place that begins the breakneck race to the end of the game :3

@OlderGamer:

SPOILERS

yes, the Egil fight is a huge point of no return. if your goal is 100% sidequest completion, you need to be done with whatever you're doing before the Egil fight — especially if it's anything to be done on the Mechonis. reload your game before that fight, go back and do whatever it was you were doing, and don't fight Egil until you're satisfied with what you've accomplished, because there is a huge amount of stuff you will not be able to get back to.

Were there H2Hs on Mechonis/Sword Valley? Oh.
Well, just wait until NG+ as it carries over all your party affinity.

@MetalGearZelda: If you're maining Shulk (or if you have him in your party), that's probably your problem right there. remember that the Monado won't hurt people from the Bionis [the assassins]... if you pay close attention to the damage numbers, you'll see Shulk isn't hitting for beans. Switch up your party (i switched Shulk out for Rikii myself) and you should be good to go (unless you're somehow massively underleveled, in which case, go level s'more lol).

Playing through New Game Plus, I've gone into more of a questing mode and I am experiencing quests that I did not during my initial run. I was questing quite a bit in my first run, so I'm glad that the game features a ton of quests as to continue to feel new in the second run. I'm very impressed with the title, reflected by it being my most played Wii game, and continue to take an interest in the backstory for the game's many characters. Having said that, anyone have a favorite house belonging to an NPC? If I were to shrink, I would love living in Deku's house in Frontier Village since I enjoy shelter surrounded by nature.

Favorite Game: Metroid Prime Hunters, Xenoblade Chronicles

So I really thought I was going to finish this game this weekend, but alas, there's just not enough hours! I'm about 72 hours in and about to reach the final battle (i think!). Despite spending so much time in the game, I'm still floored by the scope, depth, and sheer ambition of Xenoblade Chronicles. It's been such an engaging story, I can't wait to see how it ends.
