I prefer the action adventure over the RPG. Though it would definitely work as an action-RPG like Kindom Hearts.

But random battles, hell no, that's not what Zelda is.

Too many people want Zelda to become a Western RPG. That doesn't even make sense.

No, Zelda seems to be about having the same battles with respawned enemies every time you happen to wander through the same area twice!

True, though after a while I just started running past them...

Chrono Trigger does that, too. PLEASE don't tell me you're dissing that game!

It would have to be more of a Spin off though.

Which is what most people do. I see no problem with it.

They're good for fighting when you need rupees or other items, and in dungeons you have to fight them usually. But in the overworld, it would be boring without enemies and annoying if they were too hard to run past.

I found the overworlds for Zelda 1 and 2 were good because you had to fight through enemies more often, but I am okay with the A Link to the Past approach of having enemies as decoration in the overworld since it is such a pretty game and the dungeons are still a bit challenging.

Of course, the 3D Zelda approach of having approximately three enemies (which are not fun, challenging, or at all necessary to fight) and a tiny Hyrule Field for them to call home just makes for a boring game.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Never played it, but I do find that aspect of both Metroid Prime and Zelda extremely annoying. It's like there's a magic cupboard that spits out identical enemies in the identical places. I don't care about it being the same kinds of enemies, but I don't like the feeling of deja vu I get when I walk into an area and see the exact same enemies in the exact same spots the last time I walked through. It's not a game killer, but I definitely prefer more random encounters.

I actually like the predictability of monster spawns like that, but I understand that I might be a minority here.

I would say no just because the games have always seemed like RPGs to me already (even if not the traditional turn-based type) with all the customizations for Link available. All the Legend of Zelda games have their own "experience" to them which makes a Zelda game a uniquely "Zelda" game.

If anything, I'd like to see a Legend of Zelda (big-budget) movie.
