How would people like the next zelda to be a true RPG. Turn based or real time similar to the Tales games.Full levelling up system and you were also able to recruit party members and purcahse new items.I think it would make a nice change personally.
Xenu knows the series needs a change. I'd be up for it. I'd love to see a Zelda (or perhaps just more of a Smash-up roster of Nintendo characters) game in the Fire Emblem style, but given that Nintendo already has a series like that and has far fewer RPGs, a more traditional RPG would probably be better. I just want Zelda to once again be about dungeon crawling and exploration, no matter how they go about this.
a spinoff game could be fun... i'm still waiting for Nintendo's answer to Kingdom Hearts (with characters from different series-es coming together in an RPG). i get the feeling i'm gonna be waiting for a looooooooong time though.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

YES! A turn-based RPG would be great, provided it had an interactive system like the Mario RPG's do. Then it can change the story system so Zelda is a party member (like SMRPG did with Peach, er...Toadstool), and the best party member would be: TINGLE!
Nintendo needs to get to work on this ASAP.

I'm not sure I'd like a mash up of characters just because I can't imagine mario, star fox and Link in the same game though although I suppose it could be cool if done right. What universe would you guys set it in though? Personally I would still like it to be real time but where you enter a battle screen like in Tales Of Symphonia and level up or prehaps something like paper marios system with turn based battles but with real time actions as well. Plus you could customize your party with loads of different equiptment and items and recruit people like malon, deku shrub, the ranch guys maybe even tingle (he would bring a certain something to your party!!). I'm just a bit tired of the zelda formula now (blasphemy i know) and would love for them to try something new like this.Doubt they will though as it may alienate too many exsisting fans (i.e less cash in nintys bottomless pockets) although as you guys said a spin off could work.
I trust Nintendo could do a mash-up right. The cutscenes in Subspace Emissary were the only part about that game that was good. Kingdom Hearts puts together two very different universes. They could really do a similar story / universe or even a direct sequel.
But a Zelda-only RPG would be great, too. It would force Nintendo not only to develop Link as a character, but to create other compelling characters for the universe. And please, please, please put Zelda / Sheik in the party. I'm tired of rescuing her.
If it has great stories, and is very gratifying in every aspect of its experience, then perhaps. And I would like to see it with Link becoming a part of the party (fairy, etc.) at one point, so yeah, a true Zelda RPG1
Absolutely. I've wanted a true Zelda RPG for the longest time, preferably turn-based. An action-RPG would be too close to what we already have (though Zelda is NOT an RPG, and I at anyone who says it is). It would allows Zelda to have an expanded combat system (with a real magic system) that allows strategy beyond mere hack-n-slash. It would allow Zelda to expand beyond just a player avatar into a diverse cast of player characters with some actual personality. I'm thinking Link and Zelda minimum, but I'd also like to see a Goron or a Zora memeber (or many others). It would also allow the world to expand, giving us a whole lot of NPC's and a whole lot of towns to explore instead of just Castle Town and Kakariko and a handful of NPC's.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

It's nice to hear about the Goron or Zora (Mage?) 'generic character' and whole lot of towns (different times and scenarios) and NPCs (with dynamicNPCs) like Dark character of any character you are !
I may talk more of the details later on, but yeah turn-based and with onslaught of presentation that truly makes it Zelda-esque.
So, in other words not just a usual presentation of story, dialogue (yes we'll hear the characters, but still only exclamations from Link. lol), balance (to be continued), feel, style, direction, aura, spirit, collection, animal sack and so forth.
Rupees (and even items and abilities) will still be found in 'thin-air'...
I wouldn't mind more towns, story, larger party, but I don't like the idea of making zelda turn based. That sort of makes it more distinctive in my opinion and it flows better. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they do with it.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
