Topic: Wii won't connect to internet and other issues

Hi,

I hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction. I am entering the realms of despair.

I bought a Wii online - an American one as I live in Ireland. The first problem I've encountered is that there are only three language options - none of which are English. There is Japanese, French and Spanish - so I am trying to fix this problem in french which i cannot speak!

So I hoped a system update would fix this problem. So I am able to connect to the internet no problem at all. It says I am connected and I can see my Wii in the router - so it is definitely connected. When I go to update however the bar doesn't move at all and error 32004.

Now I would figure there must be incorrect settings HOWEVER I have a PAL/European Wii. So i checked the settings and they are identical. Same connection settings, European connects, USA doesn't. I have no idea what is going on. My Wii U connects with no problems. My 3DS with no problems. This Wii doesn't want to connect to update at all.

Does anyone have any advice or anything that could help me? I am close to begging. Thank you.

Well first off if there is no English language option I highly doubt it's an America model. Are you sure you didn't get a South American one cause with only those languages to select from it sounds like that one is more suited for South American countries more so then North.

no way, Nintendo south american consoles are just NA consoles in a slightly modified box.]

No it says USA on the side.

RVL-101(USA) as the model number. Some of the titles of things are in English but the rest of the text is like Chinese/Japanese figures. The language isn't much of a problem. All I want to do with this console is get things off the shop but I can't even get online.

I bought it off a guy on ebay. The console was listed as new and it looks as such. All that foam which it comes with was still on it and the cables were all in their packaging.

Ok well after Googling the error code and the fact that the English is not in the language I believe you have bought a modded Wii. Your best bet is to contact the seller and get your money back. Since it is more then likely a modded Wii we cannot help you here as talking about modded Wii or any other modded system for that fact is against the rules here.

Sorry I wasn't aware it was against the rules. Are you sure it is definitely modded?

There was no software on it or anything when I got it. Also the error is saying that it's just a connection problem.

Well here it is from Nintendo's site the error code

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/results.jsp?err...

It has been found that this Error Code may appear during a Wii System Update if a Wii console has been modified to run unofficial software. If your Wii console has been modified to run unofficial software, we are unable to provide additional support for your Wii System Update issue.

I am not 100% sure that it is modded but I have never heard of a NA Wii not having the English language as a selection option. Have you tried contacting Nintendo about your problem?

See it also says that my router has connection problems. I emailed the seller to see what they say. I did format the wii back to factory settings does that not fix it :s? I havent contacted them because its like 2amlol.

Well when I google the error code more then anything I get links talking about Modding Wiis and such. YOu can see for yourself if you just google error 32004 I would provide a link showing you but again I can't due to the rules of this site. Even doing a reformat may not fix a modded system. I will say this Wiis are extreme easy to mod sadly and the fact that Nintendo doesn't do any updates for Wiis anymore make them susceptible to modders.

The fact that you cannot select English as your language and the Error code makes me think that this console has been modded. There is nothing that I can tell you how to fix it here if it has been modded. I am not sure if you have a history with this seller or if this is your first time dealing with them but ebay does have an high turnout rate for modded Wiis.

Anyway contact the seller to see if in fact it is modded if they dont help then contact Nintendo and they can tell you for sure if the console has been modded. Other then that thats all I can say here.

Do the wireless troubleshooting it says on the support.nintendo.com page. If that doesn't work, try entering in your connection settings manually. If that fails, it could be a mod and will never connect.

Also, depending upon how far away you are from your router, you might want to try to move the Wii closer to it.
