Nearly every single piece of software you get for your computer, your ipod, etc. get "performance updates" that don't seem like they do anything. I don't see what all the complaining is about. (Unless you have homebrew, but then you knew no matter what else the firmware upgrade did it would block that, didn't you?)
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery

I don't have homebrew and don't ever plan to get it but I'm still kinda freaking out over people calming they have had problems after they update.
People should be careful about how much homebrew discussion goes on. I'm pretty sure that discussing the topic or doing anything that might appear to support homebrew is against site rules... and given the number of developers who visit and are part of the community, that seems like a very reasonable request.
Regarding bricked Wii consoles, there is no proof showing that (despite the possibility existing!) bricking was a statistically significant issue during any prior Wii update, and even less reason to expect that this one will change that trend. There were hackers/pirates complaining loudly about the possibility, but the vast majority of public reports for Wii consoles having issues involved modded or otherwise altered consoles: it truly was a tempest in a teapot. Please keep the sensationalism to a minimum and stick to the facts.
Sorry if my post broke any rules I wasn't trying to promote Homebrew or any thing I don't even really know what it is I'm pretty new to the Wii, I'm just trying to figure out if this update download is safe or not.
I had the homebrew channel. I never used any "e word". I just used it to watch dvds. I will reinstal it after they find a way. But I safely instaled version 4.3 because I deleted it before I updated. Homebrew is so nerdish,
That is TLinkerbell to you! [17:17] theblackdragon: considering i have neither an xbox nor a ps3 :3 [17:17] Corbie: Nintendo fangirl alert!!!! [17:17] James Newton: Uh oh The James Ne...
Why do you guys expect so much from these small updates? If they are going to add something big, don't you think it would be 5.0?
Seriously. Most of the posts on here are "what a waste of time, stupid, ridiculous, pointless update. Nintendo hates us because this update didn't come with free pizza" You know...you don't have to install the update. There. I just saved you 2 minutes, and countless more spent complaining about the worthlessness of the update.
That's not really fair man. Most of us about it downloaded it before we came on here and read about how pointless it is. It's not a big deal for me since I don't have the Homebrew Channel. However, with the way Nintendo has been treating Virtual Console in recent months that may very well change.

What, by releasing as many if not more games for the service than on wiiware in recent times?
With all the millions of people pirating all kinds of games for almost all systems, abusing the Wii to make it happen, and with all the many online cheaters that kill online enjoyment, it's good that Nintendo is trying to do something about it!
But they should already release a DVD/mp3 media player and add Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and ScummVM games to the VC! With that compromise half of thehomebrew users would be convinced already.
And personally I believe Wii bricking results in having homebrew crap on the Wii, and not in downloading any official Nintendo Wii updates!
The Nintendo Wii updates kill everything that is causing troubles imo!
EDIT: Please report if you still have SYSTEM ERRORS after installing Wii Update 4.3.
I can play Wii Fit Plus again, without SYSTEM ERROR occuring.

Because there's this stupid blue light flashing that I always have to acknowledge only to find out it was nothing.
bottom line: System Menu 4.3 introduces more anti-piracy/anti-homebrew fixes, no other major features involved. update at your own risk, and Google is your friend.
