Have had this problem for a while, and not sure what's best here.

Half the time, when the Wii is turned on, I get the error 'System Files are corrupted. Please refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting', right after hitting the A button on the health warning screen.
It has seemed to be happening more often lately, and I'm trying to decide what's best.

First, is there actually a fix for this besides erasing everything off of the system??
I have a ton of VC games that cost money, and don't want to lose all of that. Plus, you can't back up Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart (of all the games it had to be these 2...).

At this point, the most important thing is saving those VC games (all that money...). If possible, I would be fine with transferring all of that (along with the Brawl and Kart data if possible) over to my new Wii U in a few weeks, but, if I would do that, do you guys think it could cause issues for my Wii U then??

Check the Nintendo website it might have something also if you wanna save the games you can transfer them to an sd card. And you can transfer the save data to the sd card too.

You can't transfer the VC games to an SD card though, can you? Plus, you can't transfer Brawl or Kart either.

I may have to try that myself then. I thought I tried that before and it wouldn't let me. Couldn't you just copy every game you have downloaded and let a friend have them as well then?

No I mean getting multiple copies of the game and distributing them might be illegal not transferring to the sd card for convenience.

If that's possible, then that's what I'd do for at least the VC games. As long as it doesn't cause issues on the Wii U at least. I guess there is no way in knowing for sure until I would try.

That's fine. It was a good idea on paper, but they don't make it that easy.

As long as the Wii to Wii U transfer of the VC games will go ok, then it's not that big of a deal I guess. That's still want I'm really worried about. Don't want to transfer the problem over!

If you're willing to hack to your Wii (I know some people are really against the idea) you could try reinstalling all crucial system files.

That may work, but I'm not one for hacking my Wii.

I was hoping this was a more common problem but I'm really not finding much on this anywhere.

And I know you say you're not one for hacking your Wii, but if you did so you could recover your Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl save data, which could lessen the blow quite a bit.

Other than that, maybe send it to Nintendo or something?

Joshers: If you delete your VC games, you should be able to download them again through the Wii Shop (there is a "purchased games" page, or something to that effect). You will lose the saves from your multiplayer games, but you won't have to rebuy anything.

You're able to format your system memory, which may fix the problem, and you'll still have access to anything you've purchased (although you'll obviously need to download them again)

In fact, just go through the troubleshooting pages, and hopefully you'll get a solution. If you just wait until the Wii U comes out, I'm fairly confident that you won't transfer the problem over, due to how I imagine the transfer will be done. However, you'll probably be able to solve your problem by reading Nintendo's help site.

To iterate more than likely no, your Wii U will not be affected as it seems likely none of your save files or VC games are causing this issue.

hm...now that I've got my Wii U, I'm still a little worried about this (see first post).

Everyone still think it will be safe to transfer that Wii to the Wii U???
