what if google and nintendo partnered up to use android as the next OS for wii 2/wii HD
true multitasking will most likely be enabled
widgets on the home screen. YES
pre-install google TV, google maps, and google earth
also we could finally use wallpapers and animated wallpapers
and we would have a media center to watch movies, play music, and view and edit photo's
they could literally hit it out of the ball park. but one thing google, please do not add your marketplace if you do

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

I can't be bothered to buy a wii2 it will be good at first and overpriced for the tech it offers personally I only have time for my 3ds when it comes to nintendo products. My wii 2 money will be spent towards a xbox3/ps4 as nintendo cares less about my need for powerful hardware I mean in the last two years I have bought about 3-4 wii games and now have only MHtri and brawl. My xbox collection has 22 games. The wii while not a waste of money wasn't the best investment.Nintendo are behind on accounts as if your wii dies your lose all your downloads so I won't invest on its store.Nintendo also fail to care about online and after having 360 my main console has to take online seriously but 3-4 years in its lifespan wii2 will probrably be irrelevant.

@Waveboy - I gotta disagree with you about Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. It's true that the pointer controls worked well as far as shining the flashlight, but that's where they should have left it. Shaking the Wiimote to get the monsters off of you felt so gimmicky and tacked on that it truly took away from the experience. It reminded me that I was playing a videogame. What would be so wrong with "tap A to shake monsters off", or something to that effect. The first three Silent Hill games were some of the most immersive games I've ever played, and none of them had pointer controls.

Aside from FPS's or 'any' shooter that requires aiming, Wii pointer controls are totaly ideal and destroy dual analog....Playing Pikmin NPC compared to using an analog stick to control the curser alone is a big difference. Titles like Zack & Wiki also have brilliant motion controls, the same could be said for Wario Land Shake it! ect ect. There's more to motion controls than just pointer controls....Tilt controls and even waggle done right are amazing. Usually the people that dismiss all of this haven't played enough wii games or the gems that support this.

Dual analog needs to take the back seat. I for one can't stand it anymore, after experiencing the many great titles that support wii pointer controls i can't go back....there's just no way. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was another with amazing pointer flash light controls. I just can't understand the people that wan't to use dual analog to 'for ex' move your flash light around. Honestly, don't you wan't to feel like you're the character? to be more imerssed into the experience and have your arm be an extension of the character that you're in control of? I'm obviously just talking about certain games...Like Resident Evil, the Prim franchise, Silent Hill, or any other 3rd or first person title.

Anyways, I know I do and dual analog in no way can achieve that. we need to move forward people, not backwards. of course, you should have dual analog as an atlernitave control set up for those that must have it, but idealy Wii pointer controls(and the like) are vastly superior 'and' Next gen AND should obviously be in the front seat for these types of games.

Even New Super Mario Bros Wii benifted from pulling that little extra spin while in the air by slightly shaking the wii remote. I love stuff like that, long as it feels great and it does.

I agree with you, but if Nintendo wants to sell big, they need to appeal more to shooter fans and slap on the analog sticks, because currently, shooter's are the big thing in video games now.

I disagree with the notion that dual analogues are a good control scheme for shooting games of the first-person variety!

I believe it's true. When there were rumors of the 3DS around this time last year, SO many sources and publications were talking about it the same way here. Plus, Best Buy, Target and Toys R Us already cut the Wii's price down to $170 with $150 happening in May to clear the stock for new shipments. This happened to the DSi and XL too where their prices were cut down before the 3DS was even revealed.

Now, for controllers having a 'display' on it is questionable but this harks back to 3DS rumors as having '3D' screens and no one wanted to believe this. Now, look what happened.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo's supposed announcement this on their next gen console. I'm really excited about this, plus, Sakurai's comment on "Wanting to have a chance to make a game in HD having played Crysis 2"

I hope he's thinking about Smash Brothers.

that's about how i feel. i have no doubt the new system is here, especially after the price cut was confirmed, but the controller stuff and specific details i'm not as certain about.

Yeah I kinda hope the controller screen isn't true. If it is, the controllers will probably cost about 100 a piece.

If they (anyone) didn't come out with a new console in 10 years, it'd be just fine with me. I can't count on two hands how many unopened/unplayed games I have sitting on my shelf waiting for some love. Not including all of the games that I still need to purchase eventually...

The ONLY feature that might make a Wii2, or any new console for that matter, a day-one purchase for me would be backwards compatibility. I have no reason/desire to have a ton of consoles laying around my entertainment area. Besides, when all the release games don't appeal to me I'm looking at YOU 3DS, I'll still have something to play until something decent comes out.

Some sort of screen on each controller is actually the only exciting thing I've heard thus far.

More power, HD, lame classic controller mockups.... meh. But a private screen for each player can completely change local multiplayer. I don't believe it would be a tremendously detailed screen, but at least something to display private information to each player, making all kinds of board game adaptations possible which have never worked in video game form before, precisely due to not having a way for players to maintain private data and decisions.

Also, 4 Swords Adventures sequel. Make it happen, Nintendo!!

nintendolife peoples are saying that the touchscreen controller business, along with the project cafe or whatever stupid name is being thrown around, probably isn't true, although it does sound like they're confirming that the new console is real and is very powerful. http://wiihdrumors.com/nintendo-life-teases-wii-hd-details-di...
