Topic: Wii sounds funny.

My Wii makes a weird loud buzzing sound whenever it is on the Wii Menu. I haven't tried playing a game yet, but when I play a VC/WW game the buzzing stops completely. Thinking it was a disc reading problem I tried to clean iit using Nintendo's cleaning stuff, but alas, it still buzzes. What should I do?

EDIT: I just booted Metroid Prime Trilogy, and the buzzing continued throughout loading the menu.

is the sound coming from the Wii itself or from your speakers?

The Wii.

I have that too with some discs. It might be something like a slight inbalance in the disc which is causing more spinning noise.

Same here its nothing to worry about

Its not with the discs individually, its while reading off any disc.
EDIT: And now it won't read any disc.

okay I think you need to send it to nintendo for a Repair

Woah when i first saw the thread I thought it would be about the Wii's name not the Wii itself. Woah that's pretty bad I guess.

I always assumed the noise was just the fan going at full blast and hitting something that has come out of place or something. Mine only started doing it a couple of months ago but I've not had any problems playing discs.

I don't feel safe re-assembling it myself. I would, but im not that kind of person.

Okay, after about a 9 hour rest, fully unplugged, it sounds fine and works fine too. Might want to lay low on brawl and Prime but that's fine.

My Wii buzzes the most during the Brawl loading times.

Mario Kart Wii buzzes even on a brand new Wii. Must be something to do with the graphic printed on top of it's disc.

Me too, sounds like a dang lawnmower.

My friend's wii does and it annoys me, but it doesn't do anything. Mine is perfect though

I've told this story about three times on NL so here's the shortened version... noisy Wii became unbearable, small piece of metal needs bending, I fixed it, now it's like new.

I used the following video, a Tri-Wing and some common sense to fix it. Fixed a friends too, it's a piece of cake.
