Topic: Wii Shuts Down when Playing Brawl

So I have a problem where every time I choose the stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, my Wii freezes the game and console, and gives me a loud buzzing sound. What is weird is that the game starts up fine, and I can move through the menu and characters, but once I hit the button for the stages it crazes and freezes the system.
Many people say it is a disk problem (with scratches, dents, or cracks), but the disk is brand new with no scratches and is perfectly fine. People say it is the disk drive in the Wii, but any other game runs perfectly on it. Other people say to reformat the Wii. I tried that and it still does not work.

Either way, my wii cannot play one single game, why? I tried asking many others and they are still stumped. I have no idea what to do at this point.
If you can please help me, that would be awesome!

Have you tried a different copy of Brawl? It could be a factory defect.

@Santa: Yes. I had a copy of Brawl, got rid of it. Then got one brand new and it still did not work

Looks like your Wii can't read the double-layer disc properly. Get a new Wii if you want to play brawl.

@Morpheel: The last thing I want to do is get another Wii, especially since it does not work for only one game and I have many others that work on it.

Well the majority of Wii games aren't duel layered so you should be fine, if you ever plan on getting a WiiU though it does play all Wii games on top of the WiiU's library.

I had this EXACT problem, word for word, on my original Wii.
Brawl disc was clean, stage select caused a loud buzzing sound and a crash.
In my case I had to send my Wii in for repairs detailing the problem, as it ended up being the sensitivity/strength of the disc-reader being weakened, resulting in it not being able to read the dual-layer quality of Brawl's disc properly. It came back repaired and working with Brawl perfectly.

I hope this helps in some way..

Man, I wish I'd known that back when I played Brawl on my Wii. That exact problem would happen whenever I either picked Snake or Bridge of Elden.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
