Is anyone else in these last few days before Wii U reminiscing about all the good times with the Wii?
Its crazy to even think its already time for the next generation. I remember when the Wii first came out like it was yesterday. All those memories playing Wii Sports with the family that Christmas of 2006. The Wii really was such a great system... <3
I think I'm going to play Wii Sports sometime this weekend before I get my Wii U, just for old times sake.
I'm also listening to a bunch of soundtracks from the Wii games I really enjoyed.
Well, I can't really get a Wii U right away on launch day so I am still going to play on my Wii.
I still have loads of games to play, plenty of memories to be made!
Anyway, my best memories with the Wii are when I played Wii Sports for the first time, when I was playing Mario Kart Wii and NSMB.W with my friends, when I was playing Metroid Prime Trilogy and when I was playing DKC:R.
My body is ready, can you say the same? Is your body ready?
What can I say about the Nintendo Wii? A vilified console by the hardcore masses, but I genuinely mourn the loss of a great friend to all. His contributions to society are unprecedented. And yet he was so frequently treated poorly both by his creator and by those who mocked him with holier-than-thou attitude. I can only pray that the history books will rectify this horrible injustice known as society's current opinion of Wii and let the games forgotten now be someday remembered as true classics.
My Wii had a great run. I started out by buying it 06 along with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I played it for hours on end and had a save file clocking in at 200h once I finally finished the game for the first time. The Super Mario Galaxy games which are my favorite titles this whole generation, the fun times playing SSBB with friends or Wii Sports with the family were great, original titles like the No More Heroes series or Little King's Story were amazing and all the Virtual Console glory was.. Glorious.
Then I bought The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, finished it clocking in on about 130h and then sold my Wii to afford the WiiU. Just as I entered with Zelda, I finishing with Zelda. And even though the Wii had it's game droughts, slow moments and no HD visuals - it's still one of my favorite systems.
My over 1000 hours on smash bros brawl, unlocking every single trophy, sticker, and everything else, after beating everything on intense. :3
Then FE radiant dawn, and some xenoblade.

Whether its just some friendly competition on Wii Sports, to knocking out King Hippo in Punch-Out, to saving a world of forgotten friends in Epic Mickey, to reliving the magic of Pikmin & Pikmin 2, to teaming up with friends and family to save the princess in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, to blasting through the universe in Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, to discovering the secrets of Hyrule's history in Skyward Sword, to seeing my childhood heroes duke it out in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it's been one heck of a ride! Thank you, Wii!...
while handheld remakes probably helped more, I do love how VC meant I could finally get games I had wanted to play for years like the final Kirby platformer I had left to play (DL3), Super Mario RPG, DKC2, Ristar and the old school Castlevanias. And also getting games I haven't played since I was like 6 or 7 like DKC1 and Ninja Gaiden.
VC was phenomenal, even despite it's dissappointing lack of certain games. You can download from the internet Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros, OOT, Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger all for less than a price of a single new retail game. That's just awesome, it really is.
