Didn't anyone else get the Message Board notice on their Wii that Nintendo's about to cut off some online features.
While the News and Weather channels probably won't be missed in this day, Nintendo Channel is going down, as I think the Message Board.
If I understand, while the Wii Shop isn't going down, would the inability to contact Wii friends mean the ability to Gift games goes down too?
Wii Network Service Partial Discontinuation
We at Nintendo sincerely thank you for your continuted patronage of our company's products. We would like to inform you that a portion of the network services offered through the Wii console will be discontinued starting June 27, 2013.
We apologize to those of you currently using these services, and ask for your understanding.
The affected applications are as follows:
Forecast Channel
News Channel
Everybody Votes Channel
Nintendo Channel
Check Mii Out Channel
Data exchange between Wii friends on WiiConnect24*
*Wii message exchanges via Wii Message Board, Mii exchanges via Mii Channel, and exchanges of messages or data in some game titles will no longer be possible.
Following the discontinuation, the above services will not be available even if they are started up on the Wii menu. However, services other than those mentioned above, such as the automatic receipt of "Today's Accomplishments" on the Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel** can continue to be used.
**After the service end date, you will not be able to use the Wii Number from the address book. For additional details, please visit support.nintendo.com.
Well, this isn't THAT bad, the Wii messaging service is painfully slow, and no one really uses the News/Forecast Channel. So, I can't complain, really.
yeah I got those messages too, been a while since the wii's blue light flashed almost thought it might be an update but yeah just something about certain channels being removed, kinda miss not knowing my play times for all my games.
I'm completely fine with what they're doing. But, why can't we delete this now useless junk? All I use my Wii is for Virtual Console. It would be nice to have a little extra space on the internal memory.

I like the gift feature, it has the Steam sort of feel in it, but I think the Call of Duty Wii games ace online play.
I will miss to see how many games and hours (and recomendatios) i've done. I wish we could see that Wii data in the Wii U settings but that data is not transferred.
Me gusta jugar videojuegos. Soy de México. Sorry my english grammar. I love the Virtual Console, party and fighting games too.
