Topic: Wii on Simpsons!

If you watched tonight's Simpsons, chances are you saw a little Wii spoof. In the show it's called the Funtendo Zii, and the games they were playing were Wii Sports (renamed Zii Sports), and Medal of Honor using the Zapper.

And it seems like just yesterday they were parodying Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.

I was just wondering if Nintendo of Japan has yet added "not dishwasher safe" to the precautions in the manual?

Actually, from USPTO.gov, it seems Creative owns the trademark in the US, assuming they claimed video games as one of the products.
(I'm just going to assume it's somewhere within the massive wall of text.)

That's cool. There was also an episode once where they had Lisa playing crash bandicoot on playstation but they were calling it a gamestation. Anybody remember when Bart used to play Larry the looter at the arcade? That was way back in season 2 and 3.

Awesome episode. Too many commercials, I'm going to watch it again on Hulu. I love how happy the Wii made everybody lol. And Burns' comment when he was playing Medal of Honor: "Shooting at the Nazzis? That's not how I remember it." lol

I FREAKING LOVE THE SIMPSONS.

And thennnnn the Cleveland show came on and was very stupid, I couldn't finish it. I'm also mad at it for kicking King of the Hill off of the air, but I mainly dislike it because it's either not funny at all or making fun of something very crude to get a chuckle. American Dad is the only Macfarlane I'll watch because it's the only show with any real feeling to it.

Technically, even if they copyrighted the name "Zii" (which I am almost sure they did) it is considered fair use under the laws of parody. That is how Weird Al can make songs that use lyrcs of papa roach, System of a Down, Disturbed and everyone else for "angry white boy polka". Under US law, it is considered satirical and therefore protected under the laws of free speech.

Aside from that, I am going to avoid multi-console forums for a while. This'll spread like wild fire and only loan "credence" to anti-wii statements. Pathetic, but I would rather not read all of that

true jangonov, they can do whatever they want even if they used the word wii because it's a parody. Interestingly though, even though Weird Al can make any parody he wants , he ALWAYS asks permission from the artist first. For example, Prince refuses to this day and Weird Al Yankovic has said that he's still waiting for him to grow a sense of humor first.

i'm so glad simpsons used the wii in a positive way!! i have to watch it now. I remember the South Park episode of course which also made the wii look awesome, and hopefully they don't change their mind on that..

Even though they used Zii, the story behind it is actually pretty true. Senior citizens in homes started playing the Wii to stop being bored, and got more lively for it.

Yeah, American Dad is actually smarter than FG or Cleveland, more in line with The Simpsons than those other shows. Granted, it's still as dirty as FG and Cleveland, but at least it has a reason to do it.

And it seems like they just parodied Gran Theft Auto in the movie as Gran Theft Walrus.

I kept waiting for the obligatory waggle-jokes or whatever, but it actually turned out to be a very positive portrayal of the "Zii". The only thing even close to negative being connected to it was that it gave elderly people energy and motivation, so they became more irritating to the rest home nurses. Its very presence in the episode was almost a commerical for the system, it was such a positive portrayal.

There was an episode where Homer became rich, but eventually lost everything including his Xbox and Wii.
