All I can say is send it in. I was hoping you might have a working backup of the internet channel.

That is weird. Definitely worth opening a support call with Nintendo to see what they say; it's possible it's a known issue related to the recent system update -- just for fun have you tried running that again?

I tried updating my system software but all it did was check what I have, and it told me that I already have the latest update.

I also tried the news/weather channels today (I had forgotten about them before) and it's the same issue. Really weird. I guess I need to contact Nintendo after all.

It's on now. I did switch it off and then back on again. Should I try using the Shop Channel et al without WC24 on? I assumed they wouldn't work at all. "Standby connection" is also on, whatever that is.

I have never heard of this problem. My suggestion is deleting your current Internet settings on your Wii and redoing them.

Turn off all Standby Connection and Wii Connect 24. Try again?

I have an idea, you could restore your Wii to factory default. But,if you do,I would put all you game data,VC/WiiWare downloads, and everything data related into the SD Card. If the problem is with the update, you can also just delete the update data and redownload the update.

How do I restore the Wii to factory settings? It will still retain my account info (ie, purchased downloads) right?

This is how you can do it,but it sounds like your account MIG... But,your account might not get deleted in the process,I'm not sure. If that is the case, maybe sending your Wii to Nintendo might be your only option.

Recurring as in the past two/three days, yeah. Before that no issues. Now it seems pretty constant though.

Games (downloaded and disc) seem to work fine, though every so often I'll need to load a disc two or three times to get it to read.

Chicken Brutus, you should do what I did and send your Wii into Nintendo.
Same thing happened to me and soonly enough all disc games wouldn`t read.
Don`t worry after sending it in you`ll get it back in 10 days or less just like me

Just for you.

Both the Wii Shop Channel and the Internet Channel share the same core files, so the problem is with them...
try deleting the Internet Channel, and then try to get on the Wii Shop Channel... if it doesn't work, backup all your data to an SD and format the console, check for updates, and redownload the Internet Channel...

If it doesn't work, call Nintendo...

Okay, so get this...I've managed to "fool" the console into using those channels, but it's really weird.

If I connect to Mario Kart online, and then log off (don't necessarily have to race), it will let me into the Shop / Internet channels without a problem. I even downloaded Mega Man 2 just to make sure it was working.

But if I don't go to Mario Kart online first, it freezes up.

What the barf.

Hmmm, I like the deleting the Internet Channel idea and then launching the Shop and if that works try installing the Internet Channel again; otherwise I would call Nintendo before formatting the system, but no doubt they will recommend that or do that if you send the box in.

Sounds like you have a workaround, so rather than lose your Brawl save data and all your Miis, you may just want to wait for a 4.1 system update. I would definitely log a call with Nintendo just to highlight it so they can look at the issue for a bug fix for the next update.
