i want them to eventually allow you to transfer games you've bought onto a different console, or better yet, allow you to transfer your entire account to another wii. before buying my own wii i downloaded almost $250 of games to a friend's, and according to nintendo i have no way to play the games that i rightfully own with my own system. imagine being a kid and taking a stack of super nintendo games to a friend's house only to find that they don't work with anyone's nintendo but yours.
obviously they can't just let you copy games left and right, but they shouldn't limit consumers to the point of having no rights with the games they but for the sake of fighting piracy. one look at what the homebrew channel can do tells you that nintendo isn't exactly winning that fight.

U should've registered both ur Wii systems w/ 1 another (If u haven't) that way when u bought ur stuff off ur friends Wii u could've sent 'em 2 ur Wii using the Gift option!! lol

Ability to play games DIRECTLY off the SD card.

That's not only convenient, but also good for the NAND file system on the Wii. Every time you launch a game via. the SD card method it copies the title back to the NAND. Upon completion of the game (turn the system off, reset to the system menu) it erases the game from the NAND causing fragmentation on the drive which in future time can cause some serious problems to the efficiency of the Wii hard drive. That's a very good point you pointed out there cheetahman91

I really want this in a future update. However, I'm afraid this is not possible. Let me explain:
The games/channels are encrypted when they are moved to a SD card. When they're copied to the Wii, they will be decrypted. So when games are directly played from the SD card, they need to be decrypted constantly. I'm afraid the Wii is not powerful enough to do this.

There's also something I like to say about Wii-updates: please people, don't get too excited. Wii-updates can only do small things. The SD-card menu was a small update. It was basically a shortcut of things you could have done before the update. It looked big, but there weren't very many changes. When I see all of you talking about things like 'Home menu in GC games', 'No health and safey screen', 'Update for all WiiWare/VC games' I can think only one thing: Fairytales. In order to make these changes, EVERY SINGLE GAME needs to be updated. And as some may know: Wii (and GC) disc games CAN'T be updated. WiiWare and VC can be updated, but I think that would be too much work for Nintendo.

So there can't be done much useful with an update. Besides the usefulness for a user, there is only one thing left an update is useful for: anti-piracy. I think everyone can remember update 4.2. This was a VERY BIG update. But there was a workaround within 24 hours.

So can you see the result? There isn't very much left to do for a future update. That is probably why it is taking so long for Nintendo to make the next update.

Not powerful enough? I just did it like 5 minutes ago Also, I'm sure Nintendo has at least somewhat fool-proofed the SD card channel system before they released it. If it did cause any harm over a prolonged period of time, they wouldn't have released it to the public.

No you didn't. I'm talking about the situation of playing games DIRECTLY from a SD card. The SD-card menu plays them indirectly.

About your 2nd statement: The 4.2 update says enough. Legally used Wiis were bricked. So the past shows us that these updates can cause harm.

looks like System Menu 4.3 is already here. too bad it doesn't seem to have implemented any of the ideas in this thread :/ ah well, there's always 4.4...

also, guys, please remember that we do not allow users to post links or guides regarding homebrew or hacking Wiis. If you want that kind of information, there are plenty of other places on the internet to find it, and remember: Google is your friend.

So, I went a head and downloaded the update knock on wood but so far so good, I don't really notice a difference good or bad.

Looks like you have to get this update if you want to use the Wii Shop.

@the shpydar I guess that is why I have gotten all the updates. There always ends up being a game I want to download.

I think that's been the case with all the updates.

I thought that was not the case with update 4.1, because that update had no anti-piracy stuff but only bug-fixes.
