i had heard rumors that Doom was planned for the Wii in some form either through the Wii or the VC N64(Doom64) but nothing came of either. Was Doom a possibility at all? I know now in Wii's latter years nothing will be released on it at this point. Are there any games on the Wii/WiiWare/VC that are comparable to Doom?
There's no game that is exactly like Doom on the Wii. The Conduit resembles Doom the most because they're both SciFi corridor shooters.
For WiiWare I would say the title that comes closest is Onslaught.

Sorry, but Doom was NEVER a corridor. It was a huge map that you have to explore, not just advance and killing everyhing that is jumping out. Man, that style f maps was AWESOME.
I mean it's a corridor shooter because the player often is funneled through a more or less narrow path. And you have a short range of sight.

Well, most shooters are like more or lessthat. BUT, the diference between Doom/Quake and recent shooters, is that the map was nos a totally linear walk. You had to go back to open doors you couldn't open before, and that is something that has been lost in recent shooters due to the necesity of make games like movies.
In my opinion "Corridor Shooters" are the typical FPS of old (like Doom/Quake) whereas "Free roam" are games like Far Cry where players can go explore in any direction in a wide open environment and complete their objectives in several different manners.
