Because most people have two brain cells that are constantly fighting for space and don't realize that LBP from its very foundation was built on Super Mario Bros. ideals.
Because the people on you-tube are a bunch of idiots, have you seen the comments section on that horrible site? They make Machu look like a nice person ffs. Just ignore them please, it's just a bunch of teenage PS3 owners who haven't got a scooby-doo.
They think it's a rip-off because they are ill-informed. If it were a rip-off, it would have online play, the ability to design and upload your own levels, and download other people's levels to play. While it doesn't have any of that, NSMB2 does give you the ability to beat the game without playing it.
^Lol. I think that I would use demo play because I wanna see how it works. I wouldn't use it to beat the game, but I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. It's a great idea I think because 1) it's optional and 2) well...only me and my sister are any good at playing video games in my house. Everyone else...not so much.
On topic, I think I've heard of the LBP rip-off thing before, but I'm confused as to how anyone can see it that way. I think it's the four player co-op that everyone is basing the foundation of their argument on, even though that's not the main attraction of LBP.

@Clickity-So why do you think they'd Think this was a rip off. I haven't played LBP nor (of course) the new SMB. Is there something you could see that would make them think that. If it's alot of people saying that, I just think that there must be something (not to say they ARE ripping them off) that they're referring to. Just curious. Thanks.
@longtimegamer - I'm not sure they think it's a rip-off so much as it is reminiscent of LBP, for the reasons I mentioned above: it's a 4-player 2D platformer that features cooperative/competitive play. That's pretty unusual, and the most easily accessible example of it that people can call to mind is LBP. Hence the comparisons. There's really nothing more beyond that though. The games are very different.

Yeah, one being a physics based puzzle/platform kind of thing and the other being Mario.

Oh. Ok thanks. So this is about 4 player and co-op? That an ignorant (not you) thing to make a big deal about. That's just multi player. so what? Am I right? I'm sure there are things in LBP that were in other games long before too. Any ways it's not like Nintendo was trying to make it's own little big planet or it would be something more obvious. I guess people have to have something to complain (or start crap) about.
Firstly: Its fairly obvious that New Super Mario Bros Wii is a sequel of sorts to New Super Mario Bros which came out two years before Little Big Planet and months before the Giant Enemy Crabs were unleashed. Furthermore New Super Mario Bros was a modern take on Super Mario Bros (shock!) which came out not only years before the idea of Little Big Planet appeared but probably before most of these people commenting on youtube were even conceived.

Actually I think the last youtube comment there is pretty clever.
@longtimegamer - multiplayer is nothing new. But it's very uncommon in a platforming game. The way I used to play my platformers with other people is that one person would control the 'shoot' key and someone else would be controlling the 'jump' and 'move' keys.
