Samus is a fun gal to play, but I seem to best with Ike. He is pretty dag on good. Even though Metroid is my ultimate favorite game series, I think Ike is my favorite character to play on SSBB.
I've started playing again and for some reason, I tend to play mostly as Star Fox characters now. Specifically:

High learning curve? I don't think I noticed it when i first played as him.... weird.... BTW he's one of my favorite characters.
Olimar. He takes a while to master (in fact he probably has the highest learning curve in the whole series), but once you do, he becomes an unsuspected powerhouse. And I can't use Meta Knight for my LIFE even though he's supposed to be extremely cheap...I can never do well as him
I can play well as every character in Brawl except Meta Knight, Jigglypuff, and Pokemon trainer. Other than that I can use all of the other characters pretty efficiently (yes, even Ganondorf!)
However I'm more of a Melee guy...and in that game I almost play exclusively as Falco

That's at least two things we have in common in this department. Only my gripe is more Marth rather then Meta Knight, which sucks because Marth is one of my favorite characters. But no matter how many times I attempt to be good as him I just fail miserably. Heck, to this day I haven't figured out how to properly use his side special move (Dancing Blade) where he can do multiple combos.
