Topic: Where's the new Wii web browser?

I remember reading on several video game news sites that a new Wii browser was due around Christmas time. Well Christmas has been and (long) gone and we still haven't seen it released. It was said it would include a ton of new features such as tabs, Wii mail from within the broweser, updated Flash, new look interface and compatability with WiiSpeak. This wasn't rumour either as they also released screenshots of it!

Now I've been patient and have waited over half a year to ask why it didn't show up in December - but now I'm kind of annoyed that I can't view half the websites I try to visit on it because it doesn't have Flash 10 support! Where the hell is it? At least update the Flash, Nintendo!

Why use your Wii? It shouldn't be used for Web anyway?

The Wii is downstairs, the PC is upstairs. After watching TV or playing a game I sometimes like to casually check the news, look at footy results, see what's on the iplayer, maybe look on GameFaqs if I'm terribly stuck on a game, watch some youtube vids from the comfort of my sofa. I knew that reply would come first - the Wii will never replace my PC for web browsing, no way, but I still have my reasons of why I like to use it.

If you want to do all that with your pc, why not hook it up? Most HDTVs have to ports.

I remember hearing about this update and I was wondering what happened to it too. I was actually looking forward to it. I don't always have access to a computer so I have to use my Wii on ocassion. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who cares about this update.

With respect, you don't know me or my life and why my PC is where it is and why I will not hook it up to my TV. I'm an artist and designer by profession and my PC is in a room where I go to get creative complete with graphics tablet, drawing desk, art books etc. Seriously, I'm not going to move all that downstairs to the place where I like to unwind, play some games and watch TV.

Yes, I also have a TV that is not near my computer, and I like to watch videos on the TV instead of my computer screen. I could take my laptop and hook it up to the TV to watch some Hulu video or whatnot (I've done that, on occasion), but it's a big hassle. I was also hoping for a browser update with better flash support, but I am indeed afraid it may have been a mere hoax, as there was only one source for all the information / screenshot, and it was likely never legitimate to begin with. I hope I'm wrong, however.

Right now, I use the homebrew MPlayer to stream video content wirelessly to my Wii, so that I can send TV episodes I download to the TV that way over my home network, and it works quite smoothly, but an upgraded browser with better flash support would be particularly nice for sites like Hulu.

That's a good reason actually. I have laptops so it doesn't kill me. Here's an idea, probably a crappy one that won't work but- buy one the Open Pandora consoles and hook it up to the tv and use a web browser on it.

wait your telling me that the ability to watch youtube with its flash and play flash games are not plenty for you just to be lousy on your couch down stairs :S

Why not (get/)use a DSi (browser) (as I am at the moment)?

I know it's even "less useable" (little or no flash-support) but it is newer and you can bring/use it while going and after being upstairs! XD

Anyways, yeah, maybe with the release of other updated channels, some update to the Wii Browser will happen or be pushed.

yeah i really could use a upsate in my ds browser the better! i almost never use the wii browser...cause PC ist right next to it. but laying in bed and surfing a little bit on my DSi is so convinient. and still the brwser ist not that great. brin an update!!!
