Great response guys (cause there was no girls was there???) Nice to see the big age-span also. I guess that Wii ps3 and xbox has the same age of their audience. Maybe even older on wii which is def. a good thing. It only bothers me that no girls showed up since i think the wii is the only console that isn't totally sexist. Thanks for broadening my mind!

Actually, by a quick count based on avatars and screen names, I would guess we've had three responses from our sister gamers. Also, I dress as a woman on weekends.

Dang it, why isn't backspace working?

Hmm stupid to assume, yeah you´re right... What happens by the way? Nice to see you sister-gamer but there still isn't 50-50 as i hoped for. Screaming out questions about peoples sex on NL would seem a bit desperate or untrustworthy wouldn't it? I do not believe having a woman/girl avatar makes you a woman/girl. That would mean i'm a girl since i have totakeke. Now that's stupid!

OK, Zane, if you already know this, I promise today is not the day I assume you're a dumbass! But since I think I remember you saying English isn't your first language, I'll explain the "what happens when you assume thing" just in case!

There's a saying that goes:
You know what happens when you assume? You make an "ass" out of "u" and "me."

I'm 31 and have been playing games since I was a kid (Atari rocked).
I was too interested in girls in my teens to really devote myself (but had SNES/MD).
It wasn't until 3D (Mario64) appeared, that I became a junkie and the rest is history.

Now I get cranky if I don't get some good Nintendo/PC time once a day.

I also don't understand use of the term 'hardcore' when referring to games. If you play a 'casual' game from 8pm through till 4am cos ur havin so much fun, does that then make it 'hardcore'?
Or if I play a 'hardcore' game casually.... ?!?

Don't ask me 0_o

Rawr!

People speaking seriously about hardcore and such shit are bloody idiots and piss me of. Im a gamer and that´s it. Period.

Never heard that saying must be a new thing? Like 80's or something and yes i did get a G- in english, thank you for reminding me (and thank god for the check spelling tab)

@ Zane
I... I'm sorry... for so much.
And I was born in the 80's, so I have no idea how long it goes back, just that I've heard it for a long time and it's not new by any means.

Me, I'm 32 years-young! My first system was an Atari but not long after that the NES came on the market! I remember actually playing Super Mario Bros. in a arcade and I just had to have it! I got the first NES bundle which had Duck Hunt(with the grey zapper), Gyromite(with ROB), and Super Mario Bros! At least I believe it came with these 3 games. Please forgive me if my memory is kinda fuzzy, must be my old age! LOL!

Haha, no, I wasn't serious. Glad you weren't either. I wish I had a strong secondary language like you do (I wouldn't have guessed unless you'd mentioned it before), but US education doesn't include foreign language until high school or university, and even then it's very elementary and usually optional. Grumble, grumble.

I'm 30. First console was an original Sega Master System with a buit in snail game! I then got Phantasy Zone and Sonic and the rest is history. I then sold it to get a MD, then sold that to get a snes, then sold that to get an N64. I wasn't rich when I was younger! (LOL not that I am now either). Since then got a Cube,PS2,Wii,DS and Xbrick 360

What's this bit for again?

I am pretty old but I balance that out by being very immature.

Nintendo all the way baby, I only have time for one system so it is a no brainer since Nintendo is my favorite dev. And since wiiware is so good, they get basicly the rest of my money that does not go into big name nintendo purchases...

I think the NES is STILL the best Nintendo console, but I give Wii 2nd place. N64 next, then Gamecube and SNES dead last - and I mean that. Most of the game they had were just moar graphics - but less fun and less creative than the NES era games they built on.

Look at the NES top 5 - Mario 1 Mario 2, Mario 3 Legend of Zelda and Zelda II - no console can beat that, all but Mario 1 are on the front page of my Wii, and they provide hours untold hours of replay value. And no screwing with cartridges PLUS sharper graphics. Ahh, it is heaven.

And when there are some classic arcade cabinets like DK, Mario Arcade, PAC MAN, SPace Invaders. Mario 1, etc on the Arcade Channel - I will get them, and really have a great little gaming nook. Will wait for the arcade verisns not getting the NES ports.....

Whats my age again, whats my age again whats my age again?

IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?

Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant.

I'm almost 21 and I started with Super Mario Bros, Zelda II and Duck Hunt. However my love for video games started with Super Mario Bros. 3 and Link's Awakening

The first gaming experience I can recall was an Atari at a friend's house. No idea what model # it was though. The first system I personally owned was an NES. Of course, it came with Super Mario Bros. I played that friggin game until my thumbs bled. Then I threw some bandaids on and kept playing. I can't recall whatever happened to the NES, but my next gaming experience didn't come til the PS1 (and the end of it's cycle).
