The fact that Luigi's Mansion and Sunshine's character controls are ideally suited to the wiimote and nunhuk seem to reinforce the notion that the Gamecube was a rather superfluous console.

I think that argument could be applied to games on every all the consoles though. Just because the games are better suited to the Wii, doesn't mean that the GameCube was a pointless machine. Nintendo are just noticing that, in retrospect, many of their games can be 1) adapted to a new audience, which costs less and gives them more money; and 2) more importantly, they can also work well (if not better) on the Wii.

At the end of the day, the Wii was not around when the GameCube was - the concept of the idea may not have even been around in any cohesive form - so we can't really call the 'Cube superfluous.

Fair point. I suppose the relative failure of the Gamecube in my eyes makes this truism especially pertinent for that console.

Mother 3. Not because that makes any sense, but because it would mean releasing it in some shape or form.

I'd much rather see a sequel to Luigi's Mansion than an NPC version, but I guess that is unlikely.

1. You are adamantly anti NPC, because it supposedly 'cuts' into 'new' game dev time, but are part of the rabid 'Mother 3!!!' rerelease crowd. Hmmmm.

2. I do not think Luigi's Mansion 2 is unlikely. At all. And at this time, there is no reason to believe NPC Luigi is likely or unlikely, or that any more NPC is planned.

Now then, on topic - I have bought zero NPC, (having my eye on Jubngle Beat,) but - if, IF Toadstool tour was released with Wii Sports Golf Control - well, I would buy it the day it dropped - on the bounce.

Hmmm, it is the 5th best selling game on GC, and with the possible exception of Pokemon, the only franchise that has not seen a wii version....

Hardcore, casual = marketing. The real divide is between arcade and narrative games.

Except that Mother 3 hasn't been released anywhere but Japan, so if it came out here, it wouldn't be a re-release at all. Either you have your facts mixed up, or you're at it once again making horribly inept comparisons. NPC games are already available in Western regions as GC games; Mother 3 is not only unavailable to the West entirely, but even if imported there is a massive language barrier when trying to play a Japanese RPG -- trust me, I've tried.

I understand, just my gut feeling that I don't think we'll see a sequel to it. I hope we do, though.

Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario TTYD would be OK, but I'd not buy them anyway. I usually prefer Wii games that are compatible with Classic Controller or GCN Controller, so that kills the whole NPC concept for me.

I know is totally impossible but I'd love to see an NPC Mario Kart: Double Dash, I just love that game.

Also Geist, I haven't been able to find the GC version, and I don't trust internet buying.

Objection

Luigi's Mansion in ANY form on Wii would be cool though I'd much prefer a sequel. Other cool NPCs would be:...actually the only one I can think of is a stretch: Windwaker (with controls like Twilight Princess.) Sorry, that's all I could manage since only Nintendo published ogames look to be NPC-possible. And I already have LOZ:WW for GCN so I wouldn't even get the NPC version I mentioned.
