I signed up for the instant streaming videos on Wii today and I'm a little dissapointed. More than half the movies I search for aren't available for instant download. They just say DVD only. I've looked up recent popular movies and even stuff almost as old as me and yet hardly anything is available. It's mostly just a bunch of stuff you'd find in the bargain bin at walmart. I don't mean to be whiny about this but it is sorta confusing me.

I personaly dont see anything wrong with the movie selection for streaming from Netflix. I dont know what movies you are searching for but I have found some good ones. Did you also sign up for the one movie out or streaming only?

I just signed up for instant streaming only. I'll give you a few examples of movies I searched for with no luck.
Pirates of the Carribean series Scream series Avatar Star Trek 2 the wrath of Kahn Back to the Future series Kick Ass
None of these movies could be streamed instantly. I was getting rather frustrated looking for something good to watch. I did manage to find the movie Old Dogs with Robin williams and john travolta. It was alright but not exactly amazing. How often do they add new movies?

They add new movies about once a week usually on Tuesdays at least thats how it is in my area. I know in September Netflix added a bunch of movies to the streaming cause of a deal they made with some of the movie studios. They just had Scream and Star Trek WoK on streaming but they dont now must have rotated it out to add some other movies or something. My suggestion if you can afford it is just pay the extra dollar for one disc out and streaming. Thats what I have and I couldnt be happier.

I don't think the selection is too bad. There's some interesting stuff on there too (like now I'm watching a Nat Geo documentary about the behind-the-scenes of Lord of the Rings)

Wow that's sad. A documentary

Okay maybe I'll upgrade my subscription to that then. I usually just buy DVD's if I already know I want them. I barely ever rent anymore. Maybe I'll get lucky and find something decent to watch later. It's not a total loss I guess. Hope I didn't sound like a complainer. I'm usually pretty mellow. I'm a first time netflix user so I got a little carried away.

Ur the dull one here Curse you and ur fair taste in movies...
You're doing it wrong. For one thing, movies that came out this year won't be on there, no matter what.

I've learned that it's far better to find a genre you enjoy and browse for something to watch, rather than search directly. If you browse, you'll find a great deal of excellent films there waiting to be enjoyed. If you search for something you specifically want to watch, though, the odds are against you.
To be frank though, you probably should have kicked in the extra buck or two to get DVDs through the mail. Your preference of course, but if you do that, you have expanded your selection from Netflix by about fifty trillion percent.
I guess I didn't know what to expect seeing as this is my first time with netflix. I may go ahead and get the DVD's by mail set up. If I want anything really popular I doubt I'll ever find it available for instant streaming on netflix. I suppose some day the majority of peoples movie watching will be done online since the actual discs will be obsolete. That may take a few more years yet.

This is spot-on.
I just took a quick glance at the main "streaming" page on netflix.com and found these: Starship Trooper, Waterworld, The Fly, Iron Man, Police Academy, Paranormal Activity, Legion, Gamer, Surrogates, Fritz the Cat (!), Monsters Inc, GI Joe, Up, 2012, The Proposal, and tons more.
Netflix on-demand is FANTASTIC for catching television shows as well. There's also tons of cartoons. Some examples of both include Avatar, Mythbusters, Heroes, Stargate, Farscape, Family Guy, Office, Spider-Man, 30 Rock, Kardashians, Parks & Rec, Futurama, Battlestar Gallactica and more and more and more.
Check out The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was surprisingly awesome (but very dark/brutal).
I did get into Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or Gurren Lagann for short. The Story on this is real cool,...for an Anime.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I love being able to watch Futurama, but it sucks for me with my craptastic 20 KBps internets. Stupid taking forever to load. I got Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and I left it to load for an hour, and guess how long it went until it had to load? 5 minutes
