I wanted to like Advance Wars, but man, I just can't keep my little dudes and bases alive!

@KS8 and Adam: I'm like that too. For me, I think that it's just that the music is almost all screaming crap. Every GH I've played, has only had one or two songs that I can enjoy...

I'll stick to my Gitaroo Man, thanks^_^

Believe it or not: Smash Bros.

I'm an old-school Nintendo fan (fond memories of booting up the original Super Mario Bros when it first hit the shelves) but I have never managed to have any fun playing a Smash game.

As for the other series mentioned here:
-The early Mega Man games are wonderful.
-The first Metroid didn't do much for me, but ever since Super Metroid it has been a remarkable series.
-Kirby has some great games (those created by Kirby's original designer, Masahiro Sakurai, who also created Smash, but I'd rather he went back to the Kirby series), but also has some terrible entries.
-I've never liked Sonic.

You have to have a special kind of patience for the original Metroid. I love it. It's a lot more mysterious than the rest of the series. It's a bit too difficult, but if you stick with it, it's not impossible. Drawing a map as you go along really helps and can be fun in its own right.

I love the character Starfox, but I just can't play flying games. I loved the Adventure game they made for the Cube. They should do a part 2. Probably won't happen since Rare was bought out by Microsoft.

Zack and Wiki. Just can never get into it but I want to because everyone praises it so much.

@WaRyan

Aw, that's too bad, I just played a few more levels in Zack and Wiki this past weekend after putting it aside for a little while and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Out of curiosity, were you ever into point-and-click adventures or even text adventures?

Yeah, I really want to like Kirby, but, I d'no, I can't enjoy his games as much as other people can.

I hate FPS myself. A friend of mine (r.i.p.) tried to get me into Halo 3 online, couldn't stand it either and I figured if I could get into one that would be it... no dice lol.

Outrunner

Samurai Shodown. I find it way too hard.

@ Mulla
Zelda has never really been about having a detailed story. A lot of fans are pretty adamant about these various timeline theories they've conjured up, but all of them seem ridiculous to me and missing the point entirely. The reason Zelda is a "legend" is that it is an ancient story that has been told and retold throughout the ages. As with any story that goes through the Telephon Game effect, this ends up with multiple versions of the same story.
Of course, that is just an excuse for Nintendo to continually neglect an aspect of their games that fans continually demand more of, so maybe that's still not a satisfactory explanation.
Personally, I don't mind. The game play and sense of adventure and exploration, especially in the first two games, is unparralleled for me.

I had to go dig this thread up and dust it off to say that I've finally found at least one, maybe two, Sonic games that I like. I just finished Unleashed and really enjoyed it. I've started Black Knight and I'm only a few levels in, so it is early for a definitive opinion, but I'm enjoying it so far as well. Kind of funny that I like the two Sonics that have been pretty universally derided, but don't care for the ones that have been strongly praised (Sonic Rush, original Genesis Sonic games.) Anyway, just thought I'd share.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I know why people like it, and I want to like it too, I just don't. I've tried playing it through several times and I just now beat it. It took all of my fortitude to finish it, though, and I did it just to say I have.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I want to like Alex the Kidd, especially since he's the formal mascot of Sega, but since I was disappointed with Alex the Kidd in Miracle World and that it's call one of the best Sega Master Sytem games, I really don't care for him. The only game that's going to change my view of him is the apperance of Alex the Kidd: In Shinobi World apperance on the Virtual Console and then I want to like it, the last Alex the Kidd title.
