Topic: Very Weird Wii Glitch Just Happened

I was just about to take my Smash Bros Brawl game out and play some Starfox 64 until when i went to my SD card menu to get the game it wouldn't come up i waited for a good 5 minutes then exited out my screen went black for a few seconds and then my screen froze... so i restarted my wii up and it came up with this message:
"Your Wii Message Board is Corrupted some messages were lost and couldn't be retrieved." hopefully just a hiccup? never had that happen ever!

Ouch... haven't seen that one before... maybe google around and see if you can find out anything, sounds like its gonna have to start from scratch

now thats the weird thing though none of my messages at all were erased and it said they would be and same for my address book but nope everythings still intact so like i said maybe a hiccup?

EDIT:i am going to try and restart my wii and see what happens i'll report back and if it was a hiccup i'll delete this just saying i'm OKAY sorry ANT but that glitch kinda scared me cause i haven't had my wii on for long and i only put my smash bro game in there for a little while not no 12 hours but around a hour or hour and a half.

For the whole "Black Screen Freeze" thing, the only two things that would make this happen would be that you hacked your Wii or that you taking SSBB out while trying to load a VC game was to much for the console. As for the message board, I have no Idea.

On a little side note, who likes the term "Black Screen Freeze", or BSF for short?

At least we know that message board is okay. THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE WII CONSOLE!!!

No when i got back to my regular Wii Menu i went to go check my SD card Menu for Starfox 64 and i waited while it still said loading SD card Menu i waited for a good 3 mins so i exited out and then my screen when black for a few minutes then popped up frozen i ejected SSBB and then restarted my wii. then got that message.

Oh, that makes sense.

If SF64 doesn't work, you can always re-download it.

okay i restarted my wii and rechecked everything all of my friends addresses are still there but it seems my wii did delete some of my messages but thats okay ^^ i believe i also know what maybe it deleted them for i talk alot on wiispeak and get lots of wiispeak messages maybe it was so full and when i was doing all that i was it hiccuped and also deleted my older messages cause i'm only able to see stuff from july but of course thats okay ^^ anyway sorry to trouble yall with that but that did spook me x.x;!

Did you receive a message while loading SF64?

@V8: No i had to download the game to my SD card i have the save file but not the actual game on my SD card all my games are on that card so yeah x.x but anyway the game and everything is fixed i believe so guys sorry to trouble yall about this but everything is back to normal if i get more problems though i'll let yall and Nintendo know thanks again guys.

I make sure to delete WiiSpeak messages after listening to them just in case of space issues. This looks like another good reason to do so!

They have a Starfox 64 demo on SSB: Brawl. Maybe that did it. One time, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Wario Land: Shake It, Super Paper Mario, and Zelda: Twilight Princess wouldn't start when I tried to play them, and my Wii would send me to the Wii Menu. First, I tried all but Wario Land, and searched the issue. It was just those games that had the problem. Someone said Paper Mario, Zack & Wiki, and Wario Land had those issues, and they used Band Hero. They removed the Band Hero Mic, and plugged it back in, and that solved the issue. It sounded crazy, but before I resorted to it, I decided to give Wario Land a shot. I got the same as usual, but then my Wii started to reload the disk, unlike before. When it was done it said it was a Gamecube game. Well, that was it. I tried to eject the disk, and my Wii wouldn't cough it up. I tried turning it off, but it took a while. 5 seconds later, simultaneously the Wii powered off, and the disk got ejected. I followed the directions, and it was fixed. You know what the funniest part is? Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, and Metroid Prime 1 & 2 were originally for the Gamecube. Wario Land a Gamecube game? Coincidence, I think not. And what does the Band Hero mic have to do with this? Who knows, but both problems are equally weird. has anyone else had this happen?

I've had that error message pop up on my Wii several times before.
Once I reset it everything seemed fine. I didn't even really notice what files were supposedly missing.
All my VC games still worked and nothing was deleted as far as I could tell.
I think it's just some random hiccup that happens sometimes. Just like how the system locks up now and then.
First time I got the "files corrupted" message it did scare the living crap out of me though.

@VincentV: we don't need two current 'glitch' threads going at the moment. Since this one was last posted in back in '09 before you hit it just now, next time just let it lie and focus on the new one instead. Thank you!
