Hi guys. I'm new to the collecting scene, and so am asking people with more collecting knowledge: what Wii games are currently rare or may be rare, that will be hard to find later on?
I really wanna grab as many hard to get titles while they're still available! I live in the UK, so pal games would be the way to go.
Most Wii jrpgs are hard to find. The only Wii jrpgs I've seen in shops are Final fantasy: crystal chronicles: the crystal bearers, Monster hunter 3 and Xenoblade chronicles. I've never seen other Wii jrpgs in shops like Tales of Symphonia: dawn of the new world, Fragile dreams: farewell ruins of the moon, Sakura wars: so long, my love and Rune factory frontier. Both Sam & Max games are very rare too. On occasion, I've seen season 1 in shops but I've never seen season 2 in shops.
Didn't they discontinue Metroid Prime Trilogy last year or something?
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3
[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
Mario Party 8 (Collection purposes only) Dragona Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Sakura Wars: So Long, my Love Metroid Prime Trilogy WarioWare: Smooth Moves Endless Ocean Endless Ocean: Blue World Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Also guys, remember that discontinued doesn't always mean rare, although a discontinued game's rarity and price usually does go up.
Here's some reasonably rare Wii games off the top of my head:
Endless Ocean 2 Metroid Prime Trilogy Fragile Dreams Rune Factory: Frontier Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Step to the Beat — believe it or not, this Konami walking game is very hard to track down! One Piece: Unlimited Cruise 2. Bakugan: Defenders of the Core
Super Paper Mario (Original, not nintendo select) Pokemon Revolution One Piece: Unlimited Adventure
I can't confrim on these next ones, since I don't know their prices, but maybe the Sam and Max games, original copy of Twilight Princess, and maybe Donkey Kong Jungle Beat new play control. But since the wii also plays gc games, I could list a whole slew of rare games for the cube.
FF6: Release year- 1994 Kefka's birthday - November 9th So.... my life is practically mirroring Kefka? Cool.
Fritz Chess is considered one of the rarest Wii games at the moment. The other console versions are only slightly costly, but the Wii version costs $100 and up.
Are you looking to get sealed games, or are used ones OK? Also, are you looking for any rare games, or are you only looking for decent-quality ones? That will dictate your purchases somewhat - e.g. if you want sealed games, then you should prioritise the rarer sealed ones first as they obviously won't be around forever. If, however, second hand ones are OK, then you can spend a bit more time waiting for a good price.
I can't add much more to what people have suggested here, but I often find that places like /v/'s recommended games wiki have some good game suggestions - if you've got the time, have a look at some games that look interesting and then jump on eBay to get an idea of how many copies are going around.
Things like RPGs that don't get huge printing runs often seem to become sought-after in later years. You'll also find that first-party games also get pretty pricey, but I don't think you'll have any problems tracking down a copy of Super Mario Galaxy etc. for quite a few years yet. If I were you, I'd focus on third-party games to begin with as they often get smaller print runs and thus become harder to find down the track.
Keep in mind that video game collecting, generally, won't make you a lot of money. If you're doing it for personal satisfaction, then go for it, but I would advise against it if you're doing it as an investment. Unless you have a large collection of sealed games in perfect condition, you're unlikely to make much money from it. What really becomes a problem is when games are re-released down the track - often that can make the original game plummet, although there will occasionally be a few die-hard collectors who will shell out lots of cash for the original release.
Anyway, have fun - it's always great to see your collection grow!
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

Vonseux: Did you complete all of the WLSI missions? Sheesh, the main game is a breeze, but some of those missions are ridiculously difficult. I was lucky to get this game for $19.99. In the back of my head is that nagging guilt about not completing this.
I think they discontinued Wario Land Shake It because of poor sales.
It couldn't have helped that they wanted 50 dollars for a game that could pass as a handheld, or Wiiware.
Dude, I completely disagree. What you just said is flat out madness.lol
Wario Land Shake it! had more imagination, creativity, thought and heart put into than the playing it safe 'New Super Mario Bros Wii' WLSI Is a remarkable game, when going for the objectives especially, not to mention it's one of the most gorgeous Wii titles available.
There's no way a game like that would of been able to make it on WiiWare...And as a handheld? The DS in no way could of handled the visuals...The 3DS? probably. But It's only what, 3-4 years late in the game here?
Anyways, GoodFeel have proven themselves to be a flat out brilliant developer, i can't wait to see what they're working on next. Super Mario Clay Bros. maybe? hehe
Wave Boy speaks the truth Wario Land was the shnitz
it completely blows my mind how WLSI was getting 7 and 8's all across the boards on review sites, yet NSMBWii's was scoring the 9's and even 10's.
It would be confusing if you're strictly a solo gamer. The thing is when people come over nobody wants to gather around and watch you play with yourself. Wario will get played for six hours and NSMBW for fifty-six hours. Multiplayer is a huge deal.
