I do not think the next step will be ours. Wii is indeed one reason so successful, because many people do not have HDTV equipment and to appreciate what the Wii offers. The Nintendo 3DS is possible because it is a portable console and 3D glasses to work without it. For the living room would need a 3-D TV and it will take some time before enough households have 3-D TVs that the theme for the Gaming significant falls.
I guess that "the next Wii will probably be 3D" has been thrown out the window. Discuss!

Good. Although I don't mind the 3DS, I'm not going to have enough money to afford a 3D-capable TV for years to come and would prefer to see developers focus on making games that I can afford the right equipment to play. Frankly, I'm just starting to come around on HD graphics... so talk about 3D is premature in my opinion.

You are not dealing with a good translation here. It's awkward, ambiguous, and inconsistent. This means nothing. For all we know, he might just be saying the current Wii will not have a 3D firmware update like PS3, or that there won't be a new version of the Wii released that is 3D-capable (like the DSi was an incremental upgrade for the DS).
Of course, if this is in fact reliable and he is in fact saying the next Nintendo home console will not be 3D-capable, I'd certainly be fine with that.
sup, I will give you advice if you ask. FC: Wii Console:3985-2203-0804-1295 SSBB:0173-0975-3949 MKW:3738-0981-3164 Toribash:3481-69299534 HG-1162-1907-7904 Goldeneye:514439432409

3D is expensive at this point in time and needs a lot of pieces to make it work. I have a 3D enabled set (Mitsubishi has been making them for years now with their DLP TV's).
What I am not ready to do is pay $150 for each pair of glasses to see 3D. And also pay for something to transmit in 3D either a few channels on DirecTV (I have cable as its cheaper and has faster internet), a 3D capable Blu-ray player (only a few 3D movies so far and I already have a Blu-ray player that is working fine), or a few games on a PS3 (I also don't own and will wait for then next generation if I do make the jump).
And honestly how long is a person willing to wear glasses for?
When 3D is less like the movie theaters not to much of an effect (best I have seen is the tunnel in Coraline) and more like 3D at a Disney theme park I am all for it.
Anyone try out D-Box enabled stuff yet or have furniture equipped with it yet? Maybe that would be a better addition after all you can retrofit your existing furniture. (I am also not ready to buy into this yet, but would like to try it)
3D is pocket murdering expensive, 1/10 of the population can't see it in anyways, and even more get nauseous due to it by far than normal '3D' games ore rasterized 3D like DOOM and Wolfenstein 3D are. It's just not a good idea, also, as long as it requires a narrow field of view+distance, or stupid goggles (which can get in the way of people who wear glasses too) it's a bad idea. The PS3 itself wasn't made or even considered at the time for 3D, but it does it now, and it's the only one. The next Wii will if what I was told come out next holiday season and be HD, on par with PS3 and 360. If, and this is the big if, that is true, then well the hardware would be there to do a firmware upgrade to allow it given the system is on the market long enough to bother. To bother, you'd need a penetration I'd imagine of at least 50% of gamers tvs out there to support something before Nintendo would bite, which is why they capped the Wii at 480p and left it 'underpowered' because the boost was just too stupid and costly at the time. That is why the Wii sold at cost/profit day one, and why the other guys bled cash like a slashed artery ever since. You got to look at it from can the tech deliver, how will it deliver, will enough people have it to bother with it, and can it be done profitably at not a loss. If you flag any of that and probably more secondary reasons as a NO you can forget it.

It's disappointing that we won't be seeing a 3D console, but Miyamoto has a good point; not many people have 3D TVs. Besides, we're getting the excellent 3DS, so why complain? I'm betting Nintendo has an even bigger gimick for their next console. As long as it's in HD, I won't complain.
I honestly don't care that much. The whole concept of 3D is overrated as a whole.
This. Until game companies can prove to me that 3D games provide new opportunities to expand on gaming concepts that regular non-3D games can't, I'm not gonna buy a 3D TV or support 3D games that aren't on the 3DS.
Thats ok. if they make it so you dont have to were glasses or get a 3D TV to play it than ill be happy im never buying a 3D TV... And i dont like HD i dont see a difference at all so if it is HD they better have a thing to turn the HD off like they do the 3D on 3DS.

I will fully embrace 3D gaming when Nintendo can turn my living room into a holodeck.

That's a bit of a silly statement. If you don't notice the difference between HD and standard then why would you need the option to turn it off? You know you can just plug your HD machine in through a scart or RF socket or something and you'll get a standard picture. I can understand people being against 3D because they're against the inconvenience rather than what it does, but you just sound like you're a luddite or something.
@Madgear well I just dont see why everything needs to be HD and mabey well get a better game proformence if we have the ability to turn it off Id rather have the next system have 16-bit grafics than HD because arnt they called Video "Games"
