P.S - Monty Python, Canadian, that did make me laugh.

Glad you liked that. No, my name isn't Eugene. You guys really have to stop accusing every charming, good-looking newbie you come across of being Eugene. It's a nasty habit.

Ya, I hope that doesn't happen. It's certainly not "broken" as you say (!) but it is a worry. Maybe I'm just bitter but I think this is Ninty's fault. After all, it's being hosted on their servers. Their servers, their problem. They still can't seem to figure it out. Seems all of their games have lag or connection problems.

Okay I need a short and sweet synonym for something that works some of the time. lol

I'd buy that part of it's Nintendo's fault though. A lot of Wii games don't work all that well online.

They don't type alike at all, not sure how you made that connection.

Unfortunately, to the consumer it is irrelevant whose fault it is. If the game doesn't work, the game doesn't work. If I rent the game and it lags too much to be enjoyable, I won't be saying, "Gosh darn it, Iwata." I'll just be thinking what a waste of money it was to rent something with a broken online mode when their development time could have been better spent implementing split-screen play. I don't remember Goldeneye ever lagging.

Splitscreen? Then you get framerate issues instead of lag. It all comes down to the ultimate choice: would you rather watch a slideshow or get shot and killed by invisible men?

Flawed? Faulty? Glitchy? Imperfect? I'll call on you when I get to the J's and K's.

I could change my typing style to conceal my identity if so inclined, it was the tendency to cause offence that made me curious.

Back on topic if The Conduit is mediocre as some of you are predicting do you think this will stop it selling well, and ultimately how would this affect HVS's other upcoming titles that will use the same engine?

Now come up with a five-letter word and make it start with a... D.

Eugene just couldn't type all that well though. It'd be hard to go from bad to good to conceal an identity.

Then there's the difference in humor, name, and avatar, and the fact Eugene didn't even try to trick anyone when he did come back.

Wrong. Gamecube ran splitscreen games fine. So did the N64.

And even if the game did have to be slowed down, I'd rather be killed by someone running in slow motion than someone invisible. There's nothing you can do to avoid someone you can't see, but it's completely your fault if someone moving slower than normal kills you.

@ Stevie
Eugene wouldn't comment on Conduit. It's not hardcore enough for him. Too much skill and action, not enough mini-games and blowing out candles.

I no doubt will be repeating this in one of the other Conduit threads, but without quoting and doing a line by line reply, I believe that when HVS showed off The Conduit and said it was one of (I don't recall them saying the) best-looking games or most graphically impressive games on the Wii they were speaking the truth. It is; now this is also subject to opinion as I think there are many good-looking games on the Wii, even from the system launch; this one has some splashy effects I've not seen in other titles. I don't see any lies there.

And yeah, if they're doing a game no one else is doing on the platform whether it's "old technology" or not, I think it deserves some praise from people who have the Wii as their primary platform. I never owned a PS2 or Xbox ; I haven't been interested enough in the GC back-catalogue to check out if a carbon-copy of The Conduit appeared on those platforms, but I don't really care.

I think the game looks very nice; I'm sure it will be a fun experience, end of. I still don't get why you're so upset about the positive press this game is getting and the number of people looking forward to it who otherwise have a choice of online multiplayer FPS games that consist of a co-op WiiWare title sans speech and WWII games. I mean, look at that sentence again; honestly this game would have to be complete crap for people NOT to be jazzed about it, so nitpicking just seems bizarre to me.

Lolz JK, The first one hasn't even came out yet (one hour and 30 minutes remaining.) But, do you think High Voltage will be releasing a sequel? Maybe around 2011-2012? Give me your opinions. Would you buy The Conduit II?

2012? isnt that when the mayan calander ends? siginifiying the end of the world?.... holy crap thats it!! the conduit 2 comes out and its essence of pure concentrated awesome is too much for reality to handle... and we all pop out of existance

I can see the first one laying the groundwork with proving the engine and online mode. A sequel will need a more fleshed-out story from the sound of it (though I expect I'll pay the game and think it's fine -- I mean it's an FPS; they're not known to be strong on story, are they?).

The engine is done, so I'd guess maybe end of 2010 for a sequel if one gets the green light?

I take showers

I maybe getting a bit long in the tooth but folk seem to take stuff way to seriously. I'm looking forward to the EU release and hope to have some fun with it. I only have the Wii so I wont know any different. I will praise HVSs stance on customer relations - I had a personal reply from their team - so I thought that was nice. I like to Support people who are nice to me.

This is rational and a position I heartily endorse. BTW anyone have their suggestion mail address?
