Topic: The Best & The Worst of Mario Karting

Post your favourite Karting games, along with your least favourites. If you want to, add why you think so as well. If one seems about in the middle, just put one, or all three!
Mediocre: Mario Kart Wii; Fun online play and fun multiplayer. But horrible item balance makes you incredibly frustrated, plus the part that heavy people can bump lightwights off the road completely.

Just Mario Kart games? Because I honestly have never played any other Karting games (and I plan on keeping it that way).

Best: Mario Kart Double Dash. Perfect Item balance (certain players have access to certain special items), best track selection, and the whole tag-team element is the best gameplay addition to the series so far. MKWii was downright stupid not to include it.

Second Best: Mario Kart Wii. Despite the horribly unbalanced item selection, and the fact that 12 Racers makes things way too random and frustrating, the addition of Bikes was a huge success, and the online is nothing short of fantastic. The track selection is also pretty darn good, with Rainbow Road and Grumble Mountain being the only stinkers

Third Best: Mario Kart DS. It's a bit more balanced than MKWii, and has a great track list, although it has a mediocre selection of "classic" tracks. The online is a bit limited, but still a blast. I love how you can draw your avatar on the touch screen and show it off online. Also, the ability to take it with you on the go makes it a cut above the rest.

The other Mario Karts are just "okay". Mario kart 64 is good, but it really doesn't hold up well today. The graphics are awful (usually don't care about this but this is insane), and the controls are very awkward. Mario Kart GBA was just bad in my opinion. I hate the whole coin thing.
